Only a slight lightening of the gloomy skies over the Niederrhein

3 games into the Ruckrunde (second half of the season) and three defeats.

At least the goats were curried again on Sunday. Well played SC Paderborn 07. A miserable journey home for 48000 Geissboecke, I hope it was raining...

I'm going to have to pay more attention in class Ivansneck! it's like learning a new language and I feel ignorant when I type about being unsure about the German league. haha!

I thought I knew a fair amount of sides but neither of these ring any bells.

It sounds like their coach will be desperately needing a win to change his sides fortunes and avoid the axe. Mind you, I wouldn't be surprised if you told me managers stay around longer over their. It seems very much an English thing to fire managers when the going get's tough, I know some other European sides have dismissed managers quickly, though not the amount as over here.

Lucien Favre won't get the axe, he's a highly regarded coach, although the turnover rate is roughly the same as in England I think.

He took over 4 years ago with Gladbach bottom, not having won at home for 10 months. He saved them using exactly the same players in the last minute of injury time of the second leg of the relegation play off against VfL Bochum (statistically the greatest escape in Bundesliga history). 2 years later Champions League qualification and last 16 defeat in the Europa League to Lazio. This season, despite the 3 consecutive defeats they're still in a Europa League spot.

Favre has a lot of credit in the bank at the moment, especially as they have a relatively low budget compared to their competitors.

That's pretty good, sounds a very good manager but I haven't heard of him either until now. :P

I hope so!  Werder Bremen away next, probelm is our goals from Kruse and Raphael have dried up, I think it's just one of those form things but I've only seen the games on the TV so you can't see everything.

He's Swiss, but has never worked in UK. Should be pointed out that the first team coach has virtually nothing to do with player recruitment. Max Eberl, what we would call the 'director of football' would do that. However, even he can't stop ter Stegen going to Barcelona in the summer. (Germany's keeper at the 2018/2022 WC)
