    Barnsley had an operating loss of 9.6 million last season, so there's still Championship spending going on there. Stockport's spending is huge, but at that time they were in L2 with a smaller slice of tv money.

    It puts our own figures into perspective, but none of it is sustainable. Clubs are kidding themselves that the football regulator will be a silver bullet.

    @DangerousSausage A Football Regulator may rule to allow PL overseas TV income to be allowed into the distribution pot! EFL 3 should replace the NL.'s top division, using a proportion of said money.

    Maybe the only way is to have a financial points penalty for every £m of loss. With financial accounts working in arrears, the points penalty would be effective in the 2nd season, following the publication at Companies House. I would be in favour of EFL accepting management accounts from clubs during the season, so points deduction would happen that season, with severe penalties to Directors for signing off misinformation.
