Well, Bud Abbott, who single handedly gifted Notts 6 points a season, may be an idiot (IMO) and total football genius (see the 6 points a season bit).

But for now he is our idiot.

So I guess he will have to have my support (ouch that bit hurt)

I'm not a fan of Greg Abbott, I don't buy his 'experience'. As a manager, who made signings, his record is far from impressive and it would suggest that his 'experience' is limited at best. I've had people tell me that the experience Notts refer to, is in fact how he likes to flutter with relegation which is far from inspiring. I don't know, he might be a great assistant.

He's got my support, as does Derry.

I can't help but feel however, that when Jim Rodwell mentioned he was looking at bringing in an experienced number 2 and a manager without experience. He should have followed his word or spoke clear regarding the 'limited' experience. Handling a legal matter on your own doesn't scream 'I'm an experienced lawyer' and neither does managing one team, even if it was for 5 years.

There is certainly some pressure on Abbott to win over Notts fans. I'm guessing most are wishing him well but that is tinged with hope and a tad of scepticism, certainly is on my part. I thought he was largely ineffective at Carlisle and struggled away from MacDonald and Ward - the latter providing that much heralded experience.

We have to believe in the Derry/Abbott combination - they have to work, the Club have to get it right this time. Relegation remains the awaiting nightmare, that has to be avoided. I think we wasted too much of the season with Kiwomya in charge & the odds are stacked against us. Brizzle & the Blades will get out of trouble, Oldham & Crewe won't. We need to clamber above some of the other assorted rubbish at the foot of the table. Tough task, all the best to Derry and his questionable asst, hope Abbott proves most of wrongs and delivers some value & quality to strategy, tactics and performances.
