  1. After being presented with a special recognition award at half-time in Notts' final home match of the 2016-17 campaign, Colin Slater returns to his Meadow Lane commentary seat for the very last time.
  2. Duffy hasn't convinced me that he's deserving of a new deal. I would hope that we can find better, with Hollis likely to be around - I just don't feel we can afford to keep Duffy as a backup up because I think he'll end up spending most of his time out of the squad next season. If he manages to retain a place, this would say a lot about the quality of signings made. We need better, much better.
  3. I spoke to numerous Notts fans on Saturday, only Barry who I interviewed on 'Meet the Fans' said that Milsom deserved to be named the Player of the Season. I honestly feel most of the players have been largely inconsistent, yet he's been the one player that has featured more than others to an acceptable level. That said, I think the award probably should have been dropped this season - set the level for next season. Players only have to give 100%, so the bar isn't set very high in terms of standard or quality.

  8. Notts County have ended their programme of League Two home fixtures this season on a winning note after a 1-0 win over Blackpool at Meadow Lane on Saturday. Centre-half Richard Duffy's fourth goal of the season was all that separated the two sides as he headed into an unguarded net on 34 minutes after Blackpool goalkeeper Sam Slocombe had kept out Jorge Grant's free-kick. Pride of Nottingham was at Meadow Lane for the game and spoke to a number of fans - as it was the last home game of the season, we asked them a number of "review" type questions, such as who their favourite player has been this campaign, how many home games they've been to and so on. Here is the video, embedded from YouTube, for your enjoyment. Share your thoughts on the video, the questions, and the game on Pride of Nottingham's forum.
  9. Those fireworks! I almost dropped my camera and suffered a heart attack!!! It was an interesting build up, really enjoyed it. I spoke to quite a few people as per usual, however with the group picture it felt like a nice way to end the season. The game itself was impressive for me, I felt we was up for it and each player contributed towards something on the pitch. Blackpool never really looked a threat to me! Collin seemed decent in goal, yes he did a few wobbles but nothing serious. Dickinson played alright, much better than normal and wasn't always beaten for the ball or left for dead by a pacey player. Really, we should have won more comfortably. I didn't appreciate Richard Duffy's outburst towards Adam Collin mind, plus a few minutes after he swore at Haydn Hollis. Then again, we could say our Player of the Season was lucky not to have been sent off. The game had literally everything!
  10. It was a good team performance, I felt Notts did to Blackpool what Pompey did to us. We deserved the win, I don't recall them troubling us much. COYP!

  15. I do think we will be able to end the season with wins, though I'm not expecting goals galore - the final game will be quite slow IMO. Probably only looking at 2-3 goals, so I think this is more optimism. Are you going to stay or go Jon? Someone play the music...
  16. I still feel sorry for the lady pie fans and of course those that made every effort to help, though really I fail to see how things could be different? Without an investor or money coming in, it could have spelled the end of both teams. Don't get me wrong, this doesn't make it easier to accept but you would have to think Alan made the right choice. Why another club couldn't take the license is beyond me, that would have resolved the problem. Though would we see another fan base split and franchise debate? It's just very sad to see a club formed but those who think it doesn't happen in the mens game are wrong.
  17. The build up looks amazing, those lights and a true spectacular show. Cheers for sharing mate!
  18. I'm going to start off by predicting a 2-1 win for Notts. The game should be fairly lively, though I'm expecting the focus of our opposition to be somewhat elsewhere. If we keep their strikers quiet and retain the ball, pressure will increase on them and although they're a decent side - I can see time and good chances coming our way if we aim to play directly. Of course, if Kevin Nolan decides to play defensive - this will only invite Blackpool to play. So we'll either counter or take what chances come, but that said Jorge Grant could be key due to his eye for goal. The Tangerines won't like players shooting outside of their penalty box.
  19. Positive stuff, but we shall see what happens. I can't say I'm overly bothered about many of the existing players, though I'm sure Kevin Nolan can move us forward.
  20. We normally don't have award nights when we struggle, so despite the turn around under Kevin Nolan - its probably the right thing to do but I'm not sure the ladies needs mentioning at all. I'm 99% certain it would cause them more annoyance than anything, so I do think people on FB summed it up.
  21. It really is the end of the era for Notts. I saw Colin Slater doing some sort of video/interview when I went to renew my season ticket the other week, he was near to the J&J statue - so I'm not surprised to learn he's stepping back. I am sure we will still see him around Meadow Lane, so it's just time for him to relax after the years of work. All the best Colin.

  24. I had wanted us to try to keep the majority of the core squad, even during the 10 games defeated run as I am sick of seeing Notts players coming and going. However, I think ideally it would be wise for Kevin Nolan now to build his own squad and then to make sure the players wearing the Notts shirt are those able to remain for a few seasons. We need good players who give 100%, who care and I'm not sure we have enough quality right now.
