  5. I should have wrote 'Centre Back' instead of Left Back. He avoided it like the plague! He was beaten virtually every time, when covering corners - he hung onto players behind (he should be in front or level). It allowed players to beat him even in the air, he did okay going forward when he did but mostly he was very disappointing. Watch their goal, he should have cleared the ball and after even had the nerve to blame Hollis. LOL Adam Campbell made no effort today, he was bone idle and very disconnected from the team. Poor distribution but one good shot that was blocked.
  6. The last few home games have been a different level of enjoyment for me, not just because Notts have performed very well in the games but because the atmosphere was brilliant and the fans are really up for it. I love speaking to people, even random people and I get a lot of people approaching me. In fact before the kick off, I spoke to a 75 year old fan who was quizzing me about my camera. Have to say I loved hearing the stories of former players, reminded me of the past when I heard tales of legendary Notts players. As for the game, we started off very smooth and confident. Even after 2-3 minutes you could tell how much we wanted to win and I was pleased for Hollis after getting the opening goal. Only criticism for me would be Carl Dickson and Adam Campbell - along with our inability to defend crosses. Colchester had all the time in the world to float or drift in passes, we neither attempted to block, put them off our head the ball away. If players are self aware about heading, then they need to get closer. Dickinson acted like he was a left back, I felt he played very poorly today. Yet Adam Campbell really hasn't earned my recent backing, he looked idle and very uninterested. Seriously he barely moved and would constantly tell others to get tight (despite the fact he never did). Great team performance overall and very dynamic midfield play for us which was both enjoyable and lethal to watch. AND WE HAVE TWO STRIKERS WHO CAN BAG GOALS WHEN PRESENTED CHANCES. Brilliant result. Also credit to @Modern Notts Fan ???? who put up with me. I'm also told I met @wacky (who I hope to say hello to properly in the future) COYP!!
  7. I'll be setting off soon, fingers crossed for an entertaining game and nobody leaving during the half time. It would be a shame if people ended up missing goals and a much more entertaining 45 minutes. It will be interesting to see the player ratings after the game, though I still feel like we might not win. A draw wouldn't be bad.
  8. Full support and a chairman who allows his manager to do the work required, both Nolan and Hardy deserve praise and I hope that this continues into next season because this form now - during a new campaign could see Notts become a totally different club. But it is nice to see people enjoying Meadow Lane.
  9. I'm hoping to see a difference in certain peoples attitudes, so fingers crossed for an entertaining game. I was at the match where Grealish and McGregor controlled them away from home, Jorge Grant should be able to pull a few strings and unlock some space for us if he plays.
  10. My point is, he never did anything 'positive' to overcome it and his comments about his family show an extremely poor attitude (one I have seen quite often when he does play). Footballers should never allow the game to effect their personal lives, 10 games isn't the worst outcome and if he was focused - perhaps family support would have helped him when taking to the field? It's a team game though, so why make your family suffer because of that? Under Sheridan I often spoke/wrote about 'morale' and 'confidence', but the above highlights his very poor attitude. He says he's a positive person, the quotes would suggest others. I'd sympathize if he suffered from a mental illness but he ******* during games, match officials, our own players/opposition. He's just got a very poor attitude at the day and it wasn't that long people was reminding me our players are supposed to be professionals.
  11. No wonder we was losing, this is quite the poor attitude in my opinion. Whatever happened to trying? You know, work hard and come together as a team? I fail to believe that this wasn't possible.
  12. I was almost tempted to go with 'EverybodyHatesChris' after the sitcom but it was too long. ???? I'll have you know Chris is a very creative name, where else would I get my creativity from? It's not @super_ram for sure.

  15. Your too kind Julie, hopefully I can focus on producing some interesting blogs and get this section back to how it was. Though I felt the username change would be a step in the right direction, watch people call me Joe for the sake of it now. Hopefully I can find time to guest write and stuff also.
  16. It's your turn to come out of the username closet next. Beep beep
  17. I hate to argue, so I will simply say it fails to nature English talent. There's nothing wrong with the loan system, as this embeds players into a team which is more constructive compared to featuring alongside other emerging players. You can gain actual experience which is 'useful'. The fact Premier League teams don't want to part take only highlights how bad it is as an idea. Fundamentally this should be seen as nothing more than a 'quick fix' and people should really keep voting with their feet, it needs scrapping because it's a dangerous cocktail of stupidity and I for one will never be in favour of it.
  18. There was a time when I was encouraged to write personal blogs, yet new faces on the website never seemed to appreciate them – however with the minor change to my username I aim to mix things up. It’s a common recurrence that I get the urge to drop my ‘Notts-Joe’ persona, yet for one reason or another I just never did until now. I thought that it might confuse some members who don’t know me in person, yet it’s an never ending escape unless you apply the change and really, why would I want to continue calling myself by it? The little things seemed to mostly discourage me - I wasn’t keen on saying good bye to my old Twitter account, since some dearly lost friends are on it. Yet I have grown very tired of the username, along with the questions I frequently get about why I call myself it. It’s no mystery, it’s a nickname and it’s one which had been given to me at school (mostly due to a wrestler I liked). With the change having been made elsewhere for a number of months now, I felt it was time. Funnily enough my parents, who are a great support to the site(s) I run and the things I aim to do – have never been bothered by the fact I never used my birth name. So from here on, I am simply Chris.
  19. I'm looking forward to this game, Meadow Lane should be quite lively for it and I can see us winning. Colchester are a funny team, though as usual if we play our passing game - I see no reason as to why we couldn't score two to three goals. I just hope its entertaining, our crowd deserves that and I hope to see early signs of no nerves. I'd like to see Adam Campbell given a chance to prove himself, if we don't soon - it will be hard to see how we can retain him.
  20. I think most fans across the English leagues will wish clubs like Orient well, this type of thing shouldn't happen and it further shows just how unfit the approval system is for takeovers. I am sure they will be fine in the end. Portsmouth survived and I can easily see Orient becoming another fan owned team.
  21. The players have their focus, it's something which comes across from Kevin Nolan - again this message is more about keeping people routed to the ground. At this stage I think KN is being more careful about our overturn in form than anything. Things continue as they are for me.
  22. He ma be, I'm not. Despite people who I have spoken to and some of here saying he was useful, I didn't rate him and the qualities he brought to the club wasn't that impressive. If we want to hold the ball up and give us a target, just stick Alan Smith up top - that's about the same offering to Oliver. We needed someone with a bit more class, someone far more direct and of course with the ability to score. I'm glad we didn't extend his stay, perhaps one of the most pointless signings of this season.

  25. Very solid win but I'm hearing mixed reports. Did Notts play solid? Or was Wycombe poor? From the majority of opinions I've heard and read we deserved the victory buy it seems we may have been under pressure for a fair bit of the game. Just trying to see if anyone in attendance can shed more light. I'm very happy with the win, it's a great achievement all round and further signs if a promising season next term (despite Nolan trying to play things down). Great victory!
