  1. Boreham Wood will be physical, if anyone caught their game against Barnet - you will know what to expect. They're very dirty and sly at times, but when they're focusing on the actual football. You can't give them any space near to your own penalty box because they know how to punish teams. It's important Notts starts the game off with a patient approach to passing. I would instruct the players to get a feel for Boreham Wood, make them run around a bit at least for the first 20 minutes. If players like Arron Nemane, Adam Chicksen, Sam Austin, or Ruben Rodrigues can find openings to score or assist, it could calm everyone's nerves. I want to see the players fired up, but focused on winning the ball back as soon as possible. I like what Luke Willaims has said in his message during the press conference. He's right about singing and creating a special atmosphere, encouraging us to sing to chants to each of the players. It would be something that would ease our own nerves, as the party type spirit can lift and make you forget about how important the game is. We must demonstrate our belief in the team by promoting them back to the Football League this season. Keep in mind that during our League Cup match against Liverpool, many expressed negative opinions about our chances due to our position in League One. I was one of the first few fans to start signing and I noticed how that lifted the players nerves. There was a very small group of us, maybe 6-7 but by time we had scored one back. It seemed a totally different game and it was such an amazing feeling. We need this on Sunday, but the players need to be brave in defending and smart when it comes to pressing. If we can reduce any potential mistakes and just focus on playing football in a controlling narrative, it will see chances come for us.

  3. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham, @Kelly and @Prodigal Red. I hope you both enjoy being a part of our Notts County community.
  4. It's nice to have you a part of the community, Xavier. Do you sit in the lower KOP, on the Derek Pavis side? I think I know who you are.
  5. 1990: Phil Turner - he was the ever present and someone who led every team he captained with pride. 2000: Danny Allsop - quality striker that was always way better than the level he played for us at. 2010: Lee Hughes - just unbelievable how good he was at reading the game and finding that time to pounce on the ball. 2020: Ruben Rodrigues - he can be frustrating, but that is merely down to the quality he has and the ability that he should be delivering more consistently - much like this season.
  6. @JIMBO I believe there's two more, one of which went to another Premier League club and I think the other went to a Championship side. I seem to recall another player that went on loan to Forest back when they were facing relegation from the Championship.
  7. The benefits of watching TV games is the fact it's free, but I do prefer to watch live games more so than those on TV. During COVID, it was difficult to get used to watching streams and it just didn't feel the same. I have watched televised games from across the world; my actual preference is to watch South American games. Those are the ONLY games I would prefer to watch on TV, instead of in person. Why? I'll let The Mask answer that. Get yourself to San Sirrel on Sunday if you can @Piethagoram, we need your shouting and match thoughts!
  8. Keep your votes coming everyone! It was difficult to list members and although some may not get votes, I am sure others appreciate their input and conversations. This is just a bit of fun, so let's work towards announcing who the Pride of Nottingham Member of the Year is.
  9. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham, @JohnTheBost. I hope you enjoy being apart of our Notts County community. Thanks for joining us!
  10. I'm biased towards Matt Palmer due to my admiration for his skills as a player. However, my praise for him is based on his performance rather than just personal preference. I recall hearing foolish remarks about him during the season, like "Palmer has only one foot" and "He is not as good as people claim because he doesn't score goals." Whilst these might be genuine comments, I still find it daft to single out someone who works immensely and with pride. He gets the ball, he looks for the best pass - not always the easiest, and he makes it seem so easy. He receives the ball, looks forward and isn't afraid to drive forward into space if needed or release it to someone else who can. He works as well off the ball as he does on it. There's been very few games this season where I felt Palmer wasn't at his best. Because he doesn't score often, it shouldn't take away his impressive pass accuracy or the amount he completes. He puts in those challenges which allows us to quickly gain momentum going forward and so many teams we've hit dangerous counter-attacks simply due to Palmer's desire to get us going forward. It's not as easy to choose him as some may think, but he's the player I feel deserve it the most.
  11. I voted for Jim O'Brien's strike from outside the box against Scunthorpe, but it could've easily been any of the other goals for sure. It's just I remember it more vividly and recall how it really spurred the club on.
  12. I voted for Macaulay Langstaff, he deserves to be recognised as the club's best signing of 2022-23. It's enjoyable seeing how many good signings we do make; it's not so much a prayer and hope for the best. You know that the research has gone into the recruits, and it's just a matter of seeing how they settle. I think Sam Austin for example has been class all season, but it's taken him some time to truly shine to the level that we know. This doesn't take anything away from his earlier performances; I just mean Austin has come into his elements now and has clearly settled in.
  13. I remember the Eastleigh game because of the talk about them being a tough opponent for us. But our team played well against such teams. It made me feel confident that my prediction for Notts' success was more than just a hunch.
