  1. I was just browsing through pictures of @Dan's and I came across a few of the players who are missing. The likes Andy Kellett, Will Patching, Noor Husin etc. Prior to the public knowledge, I was well aware about Elliott Ward triggering a contract if he started/played more. However, it makes me baffled how wasteful the club can be. I haven't seen Andy Kellett, Will Patching or Noor Husin for a while, I'm certain there will be other players that seem to have been forgotten (most likely told that they're not wanted). The squad size this season, and previous ones have been a complete joke. I wished they could focus on actually signing players that offered something different and would fit in. Andy Kellett for me has been missed used and one of the players who lit up this season when started. Rob Milsom, Richard Duffy - they haven't been consistent enough for me. I don't see why they gain praise for being beneath average, I mean I praised Duffy until he reverted to no-mans-land. Rob Milsom might be okay at defending at left back, he's piss poor going forward and very wasteful. Yet there are players who don't seem to be in the squad now. I find it all rather bizarre, and a telltale sign that the club hasn't got any ideas on how to forge the team in some sort togetherness.
  2. Which of the following goals do you think is Jon Stead's best goal for Notts? Please take a moment to vote and then write below which goal is the best in your opinion, feel free to state the reasonings why you feel this way.
  3. should notts sign any ex players back if they can? with players like gary liddle being released, would you welcome any of them back? if the players have a connection already to the club could this help with restoring the pride back in our play? i think the club would benefit from bringing back any that performed well. david pipe would be a good call for me if we could get him.
  4. Usually at this point in the season fans are thinking about next season, right now with Notts returning to the bottom of the table this is exactly how I feel. The unknown is a dilemma within itself, would you rather know we was safe now or not? Would this make any different to how you feel? Everyone seems to feel it will go down the last game of the season, for Notts this always seems to happen but I would rather know sooner or later. Five very tense remaining games which will leave us hanging on the edge of every result, every kick and every goal. I think Notts can stay up if they respond well in these next two games but for once its the away form which seems to be the answer.
  5. it would be great if all who read this join in and answer the questions, so if you do please answer the simple 5 questions listed below. lets see if any pon members have any similar interests or memories regarding notts! 1. what is the highest scoring game you have seen live for notts? [win, loss or draw] 2. who do you feel was the best youth prospect from the last 5 years? 3. best player notts never signed but was heavily linked with? 4. name your notts county idle and why you think so highly of them? 5. where do you feel notts will be in the next 5 years?
  6. ryan schofield jim o'brien mitch rose michael doyle craig mackail smith sam stubbs virgil gomis ben barclay all appear to be solid additions that brings some sort of special quality to the team. who do you think is the best signing of them all and why?
  7. which players and formation is key for survival? i think notts should drop the 3 centre backs personally, they seem to play too deep and i fail to see how exactly it strengthens up the squad. defensively i feel we still look an easy target with set pieces and crosses, this is something which has been obvious all season but the same mistakes keep happening. i would go back to 4-4-2 myself. then have it so one of the mids probably o'brien drop to support a 4-1-3-2 with him acting as an anchor for the back four. jon stead, enzio boldewijn, matt tootle, david vaughan are all players i think are important for survival, its just how to get the most out of them. if kane hemmings is out for the season this would be a big blow but i do feel nathan thomas [if instructed well] could be a useful tool. he just needs to stop going for goal himself or wasting chances, just smarter play from him. what about you?
  8. how does notts improve the away form? its obvious that the away form this season has been shocking, it seems the players cant perform away from home and i wonder why. the squad can play well at home but it seems more of a task to perform on the road. one or two goals seems to be a enough to sink the confidence of the camp and then there is little fight. what can neal ardley do to improve this? do we need an away team/formation?
  9. yes its early and most likely people will not want to say much, but i think it could be an interesting subject. i think kevin nolan is closer to neal ardley than he is to harry kewell. i think both nolan and kewell could be very hot tempered when dissatisfied. the early impressions of neal are good, he seems rounded. he has his way of doing things which seems to be making a positive difference. the players seem to be on a level field with him and attempting to implement the tactics + the instructions. the reaction after the tranmere game was brilliant to see. there was so much positive influence and respect. we cant get carried away but i would like to see what people think is different about ardley, whats refreshing and if the success nolan experienced with notts is anywhere near to what ardley is currently doing. i think nolan forgot much of what made him successful and it dwindled down due to pressure. what do you think?
  10. Does anyone else feel like Notts pundits can get a way with making a negative comment, whereas if a "fan" makes a comment which might be a knee jerk reaction the club, chairman or other people class it as 'abuse'. I don't get it, Mark Stallard has just made comments about 'being a professional' and whilst I agree. It doesn't half seem like if I or another Notts fan said similar it would be labelled negative or singled out. I feel I am very polished and aware of what happens, it's rare that my heart will rule my mind but sometimes when there's jibs being aimed at players, or questions asked about their passion - I can't help but feel people don't understand how fans see the game. As an ex professional I don't see how anyone is more entitled than a paying supporter.
  11. can neal ardley make do with this notts squad? or does he need to go out and make signings to fill the gaps that nobody seems to grasp? my personal opinion is that we could make do and rebuild at the end of the season, i think the squad is good enough. they just need confidence and to enjoy their football. winning makes a huge difference as we saw after having 3 victories in a row. i just feel signing additional players will be creating more issues long term.
  12. what are the first things in your opinion that neal ardley and neil coxs have to do once they take over properly? what would you list as important to getting the results needed on the pitch. i think quickly understanding what depth the squad has and how best to use it within their tactics would help. its not something that can be done easily but harry kewell did not seem to know even after his sacking, so i think a basic understanding would help them because i know they will learn more as they settle into the roles. i think knowing how to improve the squad would be a benefit, if this means getting the best out of players such as elliott hewitt and richard duffy then it can only be a positive. what about you?
  13. For the most part of the 2018/19 season Kristian Dennis has looked to be unfit or struggling to get his fitness up, I always felt that he needed game time and carefully managing as we know he's a goalscorer. Harry Kewell threw him in into the squad with the absence of Jon Stead and Kane Hemmings. He's done well and has reaped the rewards, a striker thrives on confidence and he seems to be playing with a level of form right now. I think he will be a massive player for us under Neal Ardley. I just hope Stead, Hemmings and Alessandra can return to the starting 11 soon. What difference has KD made in your eyes? Is he in form right now?
