  3. I was among those worried after the rough start, but the owner and head coach have shown they want a steady, long term path. The club kept to a budget that makes sense and focused on core strengths. The academy has to feed the first team, so the plan should keep investing in youngsters who can grow into useful players. It is easy to shout for swifter changes, but such calls can hurt a season. Patience does not mean no heat; it means smart heat. We push the team to improve, but we keep a calm tone in public and protect players from unfair abuse.

  14. He’ll keep scoring while he can still run and perform well enough. But once his legs go, and they will, he’ll realise that age catches up with all of us. You can’t rely on willpower alone to keep going. He’s a good player, and I’m glad he’s doing well at Barnsley. I did wish he was still here, but he’s not, so that’s the end of that discussion. The only thing I want to say is, if David McGoldrick is taking shots at Notts with comments about the game being simple, or saying things about stats and being too focused on data, it doesn’t look great. Even if I agree with him that football is simple at heart, it’s not a good look to say those things publicly. He seems to have aged quickly at Barnsley too. Does anyone else think that? His face makes him look a few years older than he actually is.
  15. I still peel my own potatoes for chips and mash. I don’t like that instant stuff, it just doesn’t taste the same. Oven chips aren’t as bad as some people say. If you’re not sure, try ones that can be microwaved and compare. Even fries from the microwave leave me feeling disappointed. It’s a shame how many people have swapped effort for convenience. I’d rather do things properly, enjoy the better taste, and get a bit of exercise while I’m at it.
