  1. Losing two players to MK Dons, who are tipped to win the league, would be frustrating. We shouldn’t be strengthening opposition teams in the same league as us, especially with losing talented players who could be difficult to replace. Dan Crowley is a workhorse and unlocks moments in games. Losing him would be a major loss to our creativity because last season he was part of what made us do well in the beginning and maintained that when others struggled.
  2. The indication of the signings suggests Stuart Maynard sees him having an important role at the club. After his move from MK Dons, he really could do with a run in a team where he can settle and just get back to playing. I think this is another good read, so thanks again for sharing and writing it, @Robbie.
  3. I am hoping Notts can start similarly to how they did against Shrewsbury. Taking an early lead would be nice, and seeing the defence able to maintain and protect it would be even better. If Fleetwood commit players to defending, they might prove to be a headache like Tranmere, but I am sure it will be entertaining.
  4. I am enjoying reading your “Who is He?” series, @Robbie. Jacob Bedeau looks like a quality player at this level. Very calm and collected. I hope to see his performance continue to flourish as we have needed solid centre-backs for a while. I think he and Matty Platt give us a great foundation.
  5. It’s good to see a new player coming in and working hard. It’s still very early, but the signs are positive. Conor Grant will hopefully thrive playing for us. If he continues to put the effort in, I see no reason why he wouldn’t make our selection and impact the club further than he has already. Attacking midfielders that suit your system and can instantly settle usually show further quality. I hope this is the case with Grant.
  6. Rebuilding a fan base that has been declining over the years isn’t easy, but it’s great to see the numbers increasing. Even the match attendance is impressive. If we want to compete at higher levels, this trend must continue and be repeated. Notts is lucky to have a close-knit group of fans. Also, well said, gaffer! You posted a great comment, mate.
  7. I think Stallard is spot on. We’re all disappointed, some more than others, but we need to focus on what really matters now, and that’s the league. I’m over the defeat, and I reckon most people are too. Our focus should be on promotion, just as Mark Stallard said. I’m glad we have a BBC correspondent who talks sense.
  8. Stuart Maynard needs to stop this 3 subs on, 3 players off. Bring players on with gaps, give them a chance to get up to speed. I am not that disappointed; penalties are a horrible way to lose a game. I think Notts should have made the second round, but unfortunately, a good second-half performance from Shrewsbury and some defensive wobbles caused it to go to penalties. I don’t think Alex Bass would let two in, let alone three.
  9. Tuesday night, away from home. It was great to see Notts take the lead by two goals. I think we should have maintained that, but we had the chance to win on penalties. I don’t agree with any criticism towards David McGoldrick or Curtis Edwards for missing. It’s difficult, and while we should have done better in the actual game, I am still proud of the showing. I just wish we had weathered the storm Shrewsbury threw at us as they grew into the second half.
  10. From what I have read and seen, he had a great debut. Looking at pictures of him and the highlights, he seems very solid and comfortable on the ball. It would have been good to see him, as well as the game against Tranmere. I like that he praises his teammates and respects us fans. We need to handle the ball the way he has talked about. It makes little sense to play ourselves into trouble by insisting it stays on the ground or must be passed.
  11. I’m saddened to read this. Please let @AmericanPie know that we are thinking of him and hope he is as okay as he can be. Many of us will miss his contributions, but also his personality.
  12. Good point by @Don Masson, I agree. If we sign a good attacking midfielder, it gives us the option to push Cedwyn Scott up front. If we aim to sign a striker, maybe we should sign one who can also drop deeper and change their style of play. A good player will score no matter if they play as a striker or attacking midfielder. The main thing is to support and create chances that someone can put away.
  13. It’s a good thing I don’t need to rush, except for making sure I post promptly for the next round. Otherwise, I might not make it in time. ????
  14. If he hasn’t already, he could become a podcaster and YouTube personality. Many ex-sports athletes are doing this because they can work less and spend more time doing what they love. Tom is a nice guy. I hated all the issues in his career early on over his sexuality. I hope he enjoys retirement.
  15. Did the officers face any fines or disciplinary actions? It seems a bit unfair. Imagine if the officers were doing this as a con to gain money. I’m not suggesting this was the case, but it could happen.
  16. Hello, @Nay. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham.

  19. Come the end of the season, I’m going to see how many you’ve guessed right, @ARLukomski. I trust your judgement on knowledge, mate. Great in-depth read! I had to break it up into two readings, but I got there! I’m surprised you are still not writing it.
  20. @menzinho, brilliant read, mate! Not a bad introduction to writing a feature for PON. I look forward to reading more of what you have to say. As for this, I agree that defensively Notts look better, and it sounds like this was proven at Tranmere. With Darren Moore in League Two with Port Vale, they should be a force to be reckoned with. I also think Swindon should surprise people; they are a team that could easily flip their season.
  21. By all accounts, the draw is a good start. I think if a goal had gone in, it would have forced Tranmere to attack us more. I think a point is a good enough start. If we win on Saturday, we could be well on our way to starting a nice streak, which early on could be a massive thing.
  22. The start is a good number to begin with. I will have to dig deep to make up the ground, and I hope to achieve some reasonable results once I can join in with this.
  23. Good signing. He’s a very calm player, and when I heard we had signed him, I wondered how we managed to pull it off. I would have thought a League One team would have stumped up the cash to get him, but I do think MK Dons are guilty of signing players they want, not seeing things through, or giving them a fair chance before discarding them. It’s like throwing mud at the wall and seeing what sticks. I am pleased to welcome Conor Grant to Notts!
  24. Jeff Astle, although a player I have never seen play, I am aware of him and have enjoyed reading many “on this day” posts by PON over the years. The write-up is excellent and very good. JJ used to do an incredible job with this, and I think it’s rubbed off on you, @Chris. Astle is a great player when it comes to looking at footballers through history. I am pleased to have learned more about him from this.
  25. It makes me wish I could have made it. I’m pleased to see you taking your fan pictures, @Chris. Everyone looks very happy! So good to see!
