  1. To add to the glory, I highlighted your score in yellow. Don't let it go to your head.
  2. Proper football starts again on Saturday! All of these fixtures kick off at 3pm, and remember your joker! Birmingham City v Hull City West Bromwich Albion v Preston North End Blackpool v Wycombe Wanderers Doncaster Rovers v Northampton Town Grimsby Town v Gillingham Newport County v Cheltenham Town Altrincham v Woking Brackley Town v Gateshead
  3. A suspended punishment is about the best he could have hoped for. He's a lucky boy!# Looking forward to him kicking on now and getting some more game time. The more he plays, the beter he'll be.
  4. Please no! Am I the only one who remembers losing to then Northern Premier League Salford on BBC One?
  5. What's the scores, George Dawes? Burton Albion 3-0 Bolton Wanderers Exeter City 1-1 Reading Leyton Orient 4-0 Doncaster Rovers Wigan Athletic 0-1 Wycombe Wanderers Chesterfield 2-0 Salford City Crewe Alexandra 0-1 Bromley Fleetwood Town 3-2 Harrogate Town Tranmere Rovers 0-2 Barnet @Garry Lee smashed it this week. Congrats! @allardyces tash manages to hold onto top spot, but now has to share it with @ARLukomski. Just five points separate the top 11 a quarter of the way into the season! That's it for now, but I'll be posting Saturday's fixtures tomorrow if your crystal ball isn't worn out already. Thanks for playing!
  6. Oh no. (But as @Robbie says, let's throw the kitchen sink at the cup this year. For the sake of two or three extra fixtures we could have some unforgettable memories if we take it seriously.)
  7. Nobody should have a right to a place in the team, but the goalkeeper's position is a unique one - if you aren't first choice, you're out of the team for months at a time and there'll be no cameo appearances off the bench either. I'm not opposed to the kind of set-up where two senior keepers fight it out for the number 1 shirt, but realistically we might be a hard sell for s senior goalkeeper if we've already got another one on our books.
  8. It's a step in the right direction, but the proof of the pudding wil be in the eating. I've had a taste of this in Germany. Sometimes licenses are only granted subject to certain conditions, so if a club's crowd forecasts are too optimistic, they'll be told to lower their budget. Sponsorship agreements are also looked at. Clubs that sail close to the wind or don't submit their documentation on time have been relegated multiple divisions, but others have still managed to slip through the net and go belly-up mid-season. Overall I don't think more oversight is a bad thing (but get ready for club owners blaming the IFR for budget cuts or demotions). Possibly most importantly, it's there now, a precedent has been set and it can be beefed up in the future to hopefully tackle some of English football's structural issues.
  9. Burton Albion 0-2 Bolton Wanderers (joker) Exeter City 2-1 Reading Leyton Orient 1-1 Doncaster Rovers Wigan Athletic 1-1 Wycombe Wanderers Chesterfield 2-1 Salford City Crewe Alexandra 1-0 Bromley Fleetwood Town 2-1 Harrogate Town Tranmere Rovers 0-2 Barnet
  10. Amidst the glamour of the international break, Leagues One and Two continue. And so do we. Kick off is 3pm on Saturday, and remember your joker! Burton Albion v Bolton Wanderers Exeter City v Reading Leyton Orient v Doncaster Rovers Wigan Athletic v Wycombe Wanderers Chesterfield v Salford City Crewe Alexandra v Bromley Fleetwood Town v Harrogate Town Tranmere Rovers v Barnet
  11. I didn't honestly believe he would come back, so this is great news. The work he did in his last stint speaks for itself and the owners know and trust him. Hopefully he can build a good working relationship with MP too. I wonder where this leaves the technical board?
  12. It's always a tricky decision to make. Kouyhar is a fringe player right now, but the other two are starters and we would probably be weaker without them (although we've no shortage of alternatives for Jones). On the other hand, postponing it could lead to a fixture pile-up further down the line. And who's to say we won't have more injuries by then? On top of that, a rescheduled match would likely be midweek, which is less fan-friendly. nd football is a spectator sport after all. So I can see both sides of it. It's a tricky decision with a lot of second-guessing involved.
  13. The scores on the doors: Derby County 1-1 Southampton Swansea City 1-3 Leicester City Huddersfield Town 1-2 Stockport County Port Vale 0-0 Northampton Town Bromley 3-3 Tranmere Rovers Salford City 0-2 Grimsby Town Braintree Town 0-0 Sutton United Wealdstone 1-1 Altrincham Not a single home win! Bad news for some of us... Congrats to @Joshua, the only player to hit double figures this round! @allardyces tash moves to the summit of a crazily tight table! But even those of us in mid-table obscurity are just a good round away from the top. At the other end, welcome to @Sir Magpie! That's us done for another round. If any of you have questions (possibly relating to dodgy scoring), drop me a line. If you have any complaint, please write them on the back of a 50 pound note and post them to the usual address; I will then process them as soon as possible. As we've got a full round of League One/two fixtures on Saturday, there will also be a prediction league round. The fixtures will be online on Wednesday as usual. Thanks fr playing (but not for beating me) and have a good week!
  14. Derby County 1-2 Southampton Swansea City 1-1 Leicester City Huddersfield Town 2-0 Stockport County Port Vale 2-0 Northampton Town Bromley 2-0 Tranmere Rovers Salford City 3-1 Grimsby Town Braintree Town 2-0 Sutton United (joker) Wealdstone 2-0 Altrincham
  15. The people running that club are odious. I hope they fall flat on their faces. I remember Albert Scardino praising the pyramid, saying how it made our leagues so much more exciting than American sports. The new breed of American owners don't seem to agree - they see their system with franchises and no relegation as the default and want that in England too. Our game is a cash cow for them. 11 Premier League clubs are already under American ownership - just three more and they can implement rule changes. Our sporting culture could scarcely be more different to the American one. Are we just going to allow it to be sold off for the benefit of international TV viewers?
  16. Let's go again! Get your predictions in by 3pm on Saturday and remember your joker. Good luck! Derby County v Southampton Swansea City v Leicester City Huddersfield Town v Stockport County Port Vale v Northampton Town Bromley v Tranmere Rovers Salford City v Grimsby Town Braintree Town v Sutton United Wealdstone v Altrincham
  17. This is a sensible move as he's too far from the first team right now. Hope he can get some games under his belt now.
  18. We've heard precious little about Gagliardi's departure and the reasons behind it (although we can probably guess) so I'd like to hear something about that and find out what's being planned to replace him. It's an absolutely pivotal role at a club like ours so it should be a major topic. Perhaps there'll be a more detailed explanation about why the Football Radar debt was waived. But in general, I do think the club wants to work on its communication and building trust with supporters.
  19. Andy Hughes - who played over 100 games for us around the year 2000 and went on to play for Leeds among others - started his career at Oldham.
  20. Winning is a good habit regardless of the competition! Let's hope a few players can take this confidence boost into the weekend.
  21. In a show of multi-tasking, here are the results: Ipswich Town 2-1 Portsmouth Watford 2-1 Hull City Burton Albion 0-4 Plymouth Argyle Mansfield Town 2-1 Rotherham United Bristol Rovers 2-1 Salford City Crawley Town 1-2 Barrow Halifax Town 4-2 Aldershot Truro City 5-0 Morecambe Those of you who like the scoreline 2-1 will be smiling already! Congrats to @theAnticlough for winning the round and @Chris for picking up the points he missed out on last week! I was pretty great too ;) @JustLikeJuve remains top of the table by a single point, with @allardyces tash moving up to second! So that's us up to date! We've got another round coming up on Saturday, so expect to see the fixtures for that tomorrow evening. Thanks for playing!
  22. The factor 50+ sun cream has been put away for another year and the results are in! Blackburn Rovers 1-0 Ipswich Town* Sheffield United 0-1 Charlton Athletic Cardiff City 1-3 Bradford City Wycombe Wanderers 2-0 Northampton Town Bromley 2-2 Chesterfield Salford City 3-2 Swindon Town Altrincham 1-2 Carlisle United Tamworth 1-0 Yeovil Town *This match was actually abandoned, but since 80 minutes had already been played I've decided to count it. @cheeky~k8 and @TheSkipper smashed it in round 9, congrats! @JustLikeJuve remains a point ahead of @magpiejue overall, with @Ash also joining the top three. But what a lively table we have - about half of us are still just a really good round away from the top spot! So those are the results for round 9, the ones for round 10 will hopefully follow in the next day or two. Thank you for your patience! The next round will be on Saturday, with the fixtures being posted on Wednesday. Thanks for playing!
  23. Yep, this is sad. Victoria station deserves a place here too but that's been discussed elsewhere. In mitigation, a couple of those buildings (the Crystal Palace and the wheel thingy in Blackpool) were never intended to last long. And the thinking regarding the future of railways (and hence railway buildings) must have been very different in the 1950s and 60s, when the car looked like the way forward. All the same, it's often cheaper to demolish and rebuild than restore old buildings, and sadly we tend to take the cheap option.
  24. Ipswich Town 2-0 Portsmouth Watford 1-0 Hull City Burton Albion 0-2 Plymouth Argyle Mansfield Town 2-1 Rotherham United (joker) Bristol Rovers 2-1 Salford City Crawley Town 0-0 Barrow Halifax Town 0-1 Aldershot Truro City 1-1 Morecambe
  25. Hi everyone, I'm still on the beach but, through the magic of the internet, here's the next round anyway. The rules are the same - the games all kick off at 3pm on Saturday, you get a joker each, standard commercial crystal balls are allowed but necromancy is not. Good luck! Ipswich Town v Portsmouth Watford v Hull City Burton Albion v Plymouth Argyle Mansfield Town v Rotherham United Bristol Rovers v Salford City Crawley Town v Barrow Halifax Town v Aldershot Truro City v Morecambe
