  1. Is anyone here planning to go to Rolls Royce or Carlton? Would love to get a few first impressions of our new additions!
  2. The devil's in the detail, but cheaper tickets when bought in advance sounds very good!
  3. Colour me surprised! Derek Pavis had the club "on the market" for years without finding a buyer. He even had talks with Reg Brearley! So the idea that RT was fighting off serious bids from all over the world always seemed a little fanciful. As for taking the club off the market, surely he will listen if a good offer does come in. Ray Trew's vision should be to take care of the finances and otherwise stay in the background and let John Sheridan do his job.
  4. I think Mark Crossley has worked at Notts before. Maybe under Charlie?
  5. I'm not sold on Hurst, but I'd prefer him to some of the other names mentioned. I was a bit puzzled as to why some Grimsby fans are negative towards PH, so I did some research on their forum. The best I could find is that he's dour, doesn't come over well in interviews, doesn't appear passionate (who cares? We want a manager not a performing chimp) and that the team was "limping into the play-offs" (how awful for them). It reminded me of some of the criticism of Keith Curle back when we had a team that would absolutely wipe the floor with the one we have today. 6. Yep, the players had the WHOLE of last season to prove they are better than this and make amends to the fans. They didn't, and no amount of nice words to the press will make up for it.
  7. Reading between the lines, @Piethagoram, it means they feel they haven't found one yet.
  8. While RD is bang on with his comments, we've been reading similar comments from various players and managers for quite some time but nothing changed. It's too late now. Next season I want to see a well-organised and motivated team. The club, management and players owe us something.
  9. I don't remember Jimmy and Jack looking like that.
  10. Interested in the choice of words here - gospel - is it a hint that you're selling to the Church of England? Discuss!
  11. Excellent stuff. However, am I alone in thinking that there's something a bit depressing about unveiling a statue to two club legends, and then watching the current side in "action"? Hopefully Jimmy and Jack's likenesses will see better seasons than this one.
  12. A dour 1-1 draw is my prediction. Notts play the second half with ten men after the recalled Roy Carroll headbutts the tea lady at half time.
  13. I agree with a few others, just fielding a youth/reserve team is a recipe for disaster. Ideally you gradually introduce young players into a functioning team indtead of completely relying on them. I would expect that a number of players who have been knocking on the door of the first team are given their chance, however. Am I the only one who can't wait for this season to end?
  14. That points per game figure would have given us 19 points over the 12 games JF "managed", so an extra 9 points - not unrealistic looking at the opposition we had. That would have seen us above Mansfield in 13th, five points off the play-offs. Oh well.
  15. Great stuff. And what's even better is that we can theoretically still reach the play-offs! So where are you all sitting at Wembley?
  16. What did MC say in the press conference, @Northants Pie? That would be a disaster.
  17. Really encouraged by the fact that we fought back after going behind - only a few weeks ago heads are dropping and we were getting soundly beaten. Let's hope we reward ourselves with a win soon.
  18. Welcome to the community @Altin Lala! Had you heard about Notts County before? Look on the bright side, you'll be able to play Waldhof soon
  19. Fantastic double April Fools, @ohstanleyaborah!
  20. The club has said on facebook there are no doubts about the pitch and the match will go ahead. Keep checking though, I seem to remember them saying the same earlier in the season and it got called off anyway! I don't have any fantastic expectations from this one. Hopefully a new-look back four and a hard-fought score draw (a win seems like an impossible dream right now). Woe betide the team if they repeat Friday's performance.
  21. Interesting article. I had to smile when I read the part about him only making decisions based on sound, rational judgements - taking over a football club is anything but! In most cases it's a very expensive labour of love. I wonder where AH will end up if one of the other takeovers goes through. Local non-league perhaps?
  22. Was it all just a dream?
