  1. Great stuff. And what's even better is that we can theoretically still reach the play-offs! So where are you all sitting at Wembley?
  2. What did MC say in the press conference, @Northants Pie? That would be a disaster.
  3. Really encouraged by the fact that we fought back after going behind - only a few weeks ago heads are dropping and we were getting soundly beaten. Let's hope we reward ourselves with a win soon.
  4. Welcome to the community @Altin Lala! Had you heard about Notts County before? Look on the bright side, you'll be able to play Waldhof soon
  5. Fantastic double April Fools, @ohstanleyaborah!
  6. The club has said on facebook there are no doubts about the pitch and the match will go ahead. Keep checking though, I seem to remember them saying the same earlier in the season and it got called off anyway! I don't have any fantastic expectations from this one. Hopefully a new-look back four and a hard-fought score draw (a win seems like an impossible dream right now). Woe betide the team if they repeat Friday's performance.
  7. Interesting article. I had to smile when I read the part about him only making decisions based on sound, rational judgements - taking over a football club is anything but! In most cases it's a very expensive labour of love. I wonder where AH will end up if one of the other takeovers goes through. Local non-league perhaps?
  8. Was it all just a dream?
  9. The reports on yesterday's match make depressing reading. The fact that we're looking back on Moniz's reign (in which we underachieved badly) with nostalgia says it all. I can understand wanting to give a new manager a chance, but who would have fired Moniz if we'd actually known back then what we'd end up with? The Aborah situation doesn't add up, there's obviously a lot we don't (and can't) know. I think it's political and not necessarily JF's fault. We all know there was tension between Moniz and Branston when building the squad. Look at the treatment of Aborah in the context of the other Moniz signings - they have all been frozen out or had their contracts terminated, while Guy Branston seems to have been given licence to shape the squad as he sees fit (Banton was a player he was interested in in the summer). I think Aborah was offered a termination, didn't want it and has now been frozen out. Why would Aborah willingly torpedo his own career by refusing to play? If he wanted to play for Moniz and not for Notts, why did he turn out for us under the caretaker managers? If it's true that SA threw a wobbly and refused to play then that's indefensible, but it doesn't add up - in that case Notts presumably wouldn't have stood in Aborah's way if he wanted to leave during the transfer window or offered him a mutual termination a la Swerts. But he hasn't left, and that indicates to me that he still wants to be here. It's all coming from above, and Fullarton is the poor sap in the middle trying to explain a situation that isn't his fault.
  10. That's a very point from @Elite_pie - I hadn't actually checked their home and away form. Incredible that they have only picked up four points at home all season (one of them against us)! They are actually above us in the table for away form. All the same, we should have enough to beat the worst team in the League. COYP!
  11. I didn't expect anything from this but I'm encouraged from what I've heard, particularly that the players picked themselves up after a couple of really poor matches. Hopefully we can carry on the improvement. Obviously I can't comment on Saturday's match, but I was very impressed with Plymouth earlier in the season. They don't look flashy, amazing or even particularly special, but they're well-organised, solid at the back and a complete menace on the break - exactly the kind of team that ends up celebrating at the end of the season.
  12. The bottom two may well fail to get 40 points, never mind 50. We'll be fine. We badly need a home win, and really nothing less than 3 points is acceptable from games like this. That brings its own kind of pressure though. Hopefully the fans will support the team for 90 minutes instead of adding to that pressure.
  13. I read this article and the one on Jamie Fullarton's response in quick succession. Interesting that Coleman is angry with his team despite winning, while JF is happy that we gave it a go in the second half despite losing.
  14. I'll have a look at those when I can watch them with sound. The title brings to mind an anecdote from Steak Diana Ross - apparently Jimmy always licked the lid of the tomato ketchup, even when he and the team had gone out for a meal. Bet some waiters weren't too happy with that!
  15. That first goal was an outstanding finish! That was a result we badly needed. We really didn't want to go into two tricky games with the added pressure from two defeats against the division's strugglers.
  16. I'm not going to try to call the match, although on paper it's a game we should win. I'm a bit jealous of all of you who are going to York - it'll be the last chance to visit Bootham Crescent (yes, York too are building a plastic out-of-town stadium, who cares about football heritage anyway) and the city is perfect for a weekend trip. Love the old town there and there are some great pubs. I went to Jorvik Viking Centre a few times when I was younger, found it fascinating - mind you, it's a very long time ago now!
  17. Why does someone always need to announce that every single manager we have is "the next Jimmy Sirrel"? It's become like a rite of passage, or even the kiss of death. Makes me cringe. Yes, he's Scottish, like millions of other people. And he wants the players to know their jobs and the team to be effective, but what manager doesn't? I wish JF all the best but his managerial career spans all of three matches, so comparisons with one of the game's legends are premature to say the least.
  18. The key word here is "could". By all accounts he's got the ability, but what about the rest? It's hard to say as an outsider. If he makes a good impression it probably wouldn't do any harm to offer him a contract to the end of the season and give him a chance to play for his future.
  19. Some good films there, This is England is one of the very best. I rewatched The Matrix last night - I'd almost forgotten what a good film that is.
  20. You'd hope we can win this. But before the Luton game I said I couldn't see us winning it in a million years, and we won. So my verdict: I can't see us winning this in a million years!
  21. Careful, I've got modding powers now Seriously thougjh, I didn't see that result coming at all, but I'm delighted about it. I've seen too many false dawns to start hailing JF as the new messiah - I remember Gary Brazil's three wins at the start of his reign of terror. But I hope I can enjoy a delicious slice of humble pie over the coming months.
  22. He hasn't ruled it in either. In fact he said nothing whatsoever, as per usual.
  23. Not a bad lineup @Piethagoram , but I think the nightmare vision is likelier! I can't see us winning this in a million years. Come on Notts, surprise us.
