  1. Creditable to Williams for altering the strategy and opting for a back four formation. It's heartening to see that he's looking to organize and compact the defence while also making opportunities for counter-attacks. It's a learning curve and mistakes are bound to happen. Williams' attitudes towards these mistakes, his readiness to take responsibility for them, and more importantly, rectify them is commendable. The strength of a team lies in its ability to bounce back and harness these experiences for better performance.
  2. I’ll just enjoy the game for what it is; there’s no need to get irate about a friendly. I think Notts will make changes as we get closer to the first fixture of the season. I hope Notts doesn’t refrain from playing the youngsters, but it might protect them a bit further. I’d like to see Macaulay Langstaff feature for longer than he did, with maybe two up top at times before he eventually comes off.
  3. Great interview for your first blog! The Pride of Nottingham is an excellent site. Those abusive comments early on were probably just trolls, Forest fans, and the usual suspects who are jealous.
  4. I admire Williams' practical approach. Accepting minor injuries as part of the pre-season is important. He does not let these incidents sway his positive outlook.
  5. This piece does well to highlight the importance of the derby against Grimsby Town. I remember the gruelling defeat in the playoff quarter-final a few season ago. I'm eager to see Notts County exact some revenge. As for Grimsby's active transfers window, it's hard to tell if this will shift the balance in their favour. Time will tell how well these signings integrate with the existing team. Hopefully, Notts uses the advantage of the home ground and get those important three points!
  6. It's great to hear Williams discuss the importance of strategy in assembling his team.
  7. It's a delight to witness Matty Palmer's growth as a player. He keeps getting better and better.
  8. It's always a beautifully rewarding moment when hard work and dedication are recognised. Aaron Nemane's newly penned two-year contract with Notts County is solid proof of this. Nemane, with his fine-tuned skills, has proven to be an instrumental player for the club, providing both offensive and defensive contributions, entirely deserving of this recognition. Moreover, his unique characteristics which include speed, a low centre of gravity, and close control make him one of the most compelling players to watch on the field. These attributes coupled with the club's continued faith in him to provide the platform to realise his full potential is exciting. The squad's positive comments about him just further solidify the anticipation for what lies ahead.
  9. A true legend of the game, Mick Vinter left an indelible mark on English football. May his soul rest in peace.
  10. It sounds like the pre-season games against Stoke and Forest will be a brilliant opportunity for Williams to assess his squad's progress. These matches against higher-level teams often reveal a lot about the current state of the squad.
  11. I can relate to Nigel so much! Notts County has been such a big part of my life as well, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
  12. My favourite signing is Dan Crowley. However, all of the signings will have my full support. I think they will all do well.
  13. It’s largely fine. The Tranmere away game after the new year will be difficult for those who party on New Year’s Eve, but it will be one hell of a fixture. At least we are at home on Boxing Day! Also, there is potential for fancy dress for Halloween.
  14. I still have to pinch myself sometimes just to remember that we finally have owners who genuinely care about the club and its fans. They've done a remarkable job so far and continue to work hard to bring success to Notts County.
  15. This is a very shrewd and sensible signing. I have to say, we are assembling a very good squad. I can see Dan Crowley fitting in. He gives us depth in key areas and players will have to perform to get into the starting 11. I am delighted by this news.
  16. It’s strange but amusing how events unfold. At the time, the 119-minute winner seemed unlikely even though Notts kept persisting. To repeat it after suffering the same fate is one of football’s mysteries. This is magnificently written, Bill. I believe our worst fears became part of the happiest periods supporting the club under those difficult circumstances. I wouldn’t change a thing. Our day at Wembley will live with me forever.
  17. To play devil’s advocate, he says this now that he’s reached the heights he did and after being a successful Championship striker. He didn’t think to come back sooner? If it’s not all about money, that is. Obviously, the timing is right, and it might be more about preserving his career, but I am glad he’s returned.
  18. Jodi Jones has a bag of tricks and always gives a routine performance which is quite exceptional. Since he joined us, I do think he has managed to lift his game again.
  19. What a good signing. McGoldrick is exactly what we need. He’s got experience, quality and passion. He’s going to help us a lot this season.
