  1. Thanks for the Memory Luke. Now we at Notts turn the page to a new chapter in our great history.
  2. The modern game now requires much more from a goalkeeper, 20, 30, 40, 50 years ago Keepers were expected to be proficient in Keeping duties and take goal kicks and punts up to the halfway line with the very occasional role out. Now Keepers are expected to distribute, act as sweeper and pass the ball out just about every time they get the ball. Some keepers are good at this some are not. I think nowadays a good all rounder will always be sought for, good on crosses, good shot stopper and distributor.
  3. Iain McCulloch scored 51 goals in 215 appearances for Notts. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iain_McCulloch
  4. I think we've got to get at least 12 wins and 2 draws from the remaining 22 matches, taking 8 more defeats which would give us 80 points total, which should get us in to the playoffs. 77 points could be enough but that's a stretch. It is going to be tough to do it. It depends on many factors now of course. New Head Coach, New players, and can we keep Macaulay, Dan and others.
  5. Looking forward to Jim O'Brien's first press conference pre Grimsby, as Interim Head Coach. It will be interesting listening.
  6. Notts County 1 Man United 0 First Division April 1984, featuring Trevor Christie & Ian McParland. A great win over Manchester United at Meadow Lane. Great memories watching this from my regular place on the County Road side Iain McCulloch broke his leg in this game which sadly ended his Career.
  7. I believe we can now that Luke Williams has gone. Jim will hopefully get a good result at Grimsby. When the new permanent Head Coach is appointed, Notts will get another big lift again. Reaching the playoffs in our first season back in League 2 would be tremendous.
  8. Luke has gone. Now we look to see what changes will be made by interim Head Coach Jim O'Brien. I'm hoping that Jim is going to be more cautious & more defensive minded at Grimsby. We really do need a result here.
  9. The National Insurance rate cut . Is it really a tax cut in real terms?
  10. Dan's Wikipedia. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dan_Gosling
  11. I get what you say @Fozzy Pensioners have become an afterthought. The triple lock has only gone up by inflation, so in reality pensioners have had no rise at all. Tax allowances have been frozen and are not keeping up with inflation. More pensioners are being brought into paying tax as are basic rate taxpayers. 12 million Pensioners are a large voting block. Which Party is going to jump first?
  12. Yes @Fozzy I've seen this banded around on social media today. I hope it isn't true and even if it was it would be very hard to prove anyway. What we do know is the big dip in form, 7 defeats in 11 matches & Luke's inability to change things to try to turn things around. But it's all over now. We have to look forward not backwards. What's done is done.
  13. Luke wasn't Swansea's first choice either, but the whole saga is water under the bridge now. Luke's moved on and we move on too. I'm getting behind Jim and the lads now, for the next crucial match against Grimsby.
  14. According to reports it looks like Stockport are looking at Warner too.
  15. Good luck Luke.
  16. Notts in sixth place on 42 points 9 points behind Stockport in 1st place, 7 points behind 2nd place Mansfield & 3rd place Wrexham who both have one game in hand over us. Everything to play for going into the Grimsby game next Saturday.
  17. Mansfield have lost to Crewe today 0:1 at home, have now lost two games in the league this season. Barrow win. Notts are still in touch with the leaders after today's games 9 points behind top spot.
  18. I agree that what you say. Hopefully Dan will do better elsewhere. Agree. It didn't work out for him here. He's much better than what he showed here.
  19. It is reported Luke will be sitting on their bench this evening.
  20. I agree @menzinho. In the Reedtz brothers I trust. I'm sure they'll get the right Head Coach that fits Notts phylosophy of attacking football
  21. Yes @liampie it is dissapointing Notts couldn't persuade him to stay. Luke was visiblely upset when he talked about Jason Turner in his final interview for Notts. Jason's sudden passing affected us all so much & still does. His continued presence may have changed things, We will never know.
  22. Sad that Notts didn't do more to keep him on loan an extra year. I think we wouldn't have conceded as many goals as we have done to date if he had been here. But that is water under the bridge. I wish him well at Morecambe. Hope that we can sort out the goalkeeping problem soon.
  23. I agree @liampie Working families are struggling too and a £900 saving between two partners working is welcome. But everyone should have been included. I would have welcomed a 2% basic rate tax cut or an increase in the personal tax free allowance, and of course helping those on benefits too.
  24. I agree @liampie it probably became apparent in training that he didn't fit with the Notts system. I wish him well in his future endeavours. Him going opens up another place for the New Head Coach to work with.
