  1. He was a good player for Notts and another player who was part of our success story in our rise to the old first division.
  2. I am really enjoying reading these Notts Alumni articles. A lot of work has gone into them. Jonathan was a good player for Notts and his loan periods with our club just demonstrates how the loan system can work. And his debut hat trick was really something.
  3. Great Article about Ian Richardson. Ian was very loyal to our club when many would have moved on. He's a true hero to our club.
  4. A great player who is one of our own. What great times this club had and Mark had a big part to play in that success too.
  5. Another enjoyable read from this excellent thread. Donald was another player that played an important contribution to Notts County success over the years.
  6. Great article on Jackie. Jackie Sewell was a brilliant footballer who tends to get overshadowed a little by his strike partner Tommy Lawton, when people look back to that period in Notts County history, but Jackie had a very successful career and played alongside football greats for England. And he is rightly regarded as one of the Notts County greats.
  7. Great article on Jimmy who played his part in our success all those years ago It's really touching that he has been given a lovely tribute by the installation that beautiful headstone.
  8. Pedro Richards, simply one of our own who became another legend His contribution to our success will never be forgotten.
  9. Fantastic read. A true Notts legend between the sticks. They don't make them like that anymore.
  10. Great read on such an exceptional player. In my opinion he was the best player I saw play for Notts who took us from the fourth to the Ist Division as Captain & Midfield General and playmaker. Simply a big Notts legend & he's top of my players hall of fame too.
  11. Great article on Charlie Palmer. His passion and personality always shone through. And that winning goal against Forest. I was privileged to be there and it's one of my great memories.
  12. Great article on Steve Cherry. He's simply the best goalkeeper I've seen play for County and I've seen a few in my time watching them. He was simply Mr Reliable between the sticks. Another Notts C great.
  13. Jimmy Sirrel is simply Mr Notts County in my eyes. For what he did for this club is beyond measure. We've had so many great Managers throughout our history, some of them are legends in their own right, but non of them come close to Jimmy, who was simply out on his own.
  14. Phil Turner Captained Notts from midfield to tremendous success, getting us from the 3rd Division to the Ist in successive seasons, plus two Anglo-Italian Cup finals. He was the engine of our midfield during that successful period. Phil Turner goes into my Notts County hall of fame
  15. Les Bradd is not just a Notts County great. He is a Notts County legend who I was privileged to see play and score many many goals for Notts. Another Notts player who gets into my Notts County hall of fame
  16. Nice article about Lee Hughes. For me he was just simply sensational for Notts. Not many players have a presence on the pitch. These players are special and Lee Hughes was one of them. He's definitely in my Notts County hall of fame.
  17. I will never forget Andy's contribution to us getting to two Anglo-Italian Cup finals and winning the 2nd one. That long throw of his was a superb weapon which caused so many problems for the Italians. Andy was a great player for Notts.
  18. Really nice article about Iain McCulloch. Iain was one of the Notts County greats and was one of my favourite players in the early 1980s along with his partner up front, Trevor Christie. Iain top scored for Notts in consecutive seasons in the top flight. His career ended to early through injury.
  19. Mick Vinter scored some very important goals for us. He was a very good servant to our club. Very sorry to hear that he had died.
  20. James Sanderson looks to be a very good young player and will learn a lot from the being around the first team squad.
  21. Coventry City 4 v Swansea City 1 Millwall 1 v Norwich City 2 Bristol Rovers 1 v Charlton Athletic 2 Burton Albion 0 v Shrewsbury Town 0 Joker Cheltenham Town 1 v Reading 0 Harrogate Town 2 v Tranmere Rovers 0 Newport County 2 v Crewe Alexandra 1 Salford City 1 v Grimsby Town 1
  22. Following on from our vital win against Doncaster and a confidence boosting clean sheet combined with another very good display from the lads, I would continue with the same team against the Shrimps and look for another similar performance. Morecambe will provide a much tougher opposition on Friday than Doncaster and we will need to be on our guard defensively for the 100 possible minutes. Macaulay has got his goal today, so he will feel much better for that after his 4 match goal draught, so in attack, we just need to keep doing what we are doing. Our goal total stands on 48 in the league, so Notts have proved that time and time again that attacking is not our problem. I'm predicting a 2:1 win against a very organised Morecambe side.
  23. Really lovely story. Not just a fantastic supporter of Notts, Wendy's dedication to her charitable work is admiral & an example to us all.
  24. Really good article on Jim. Jim has been a key figure in our recent successes due to his adaptability & flexibility to cover a variety of different positions on the pitch when he was called upon.
  25. I'm a newbie and have just got round to reading this really good article from @Magpie Bill about our successful journey from National league & back to the EFL. Thanks to the new owners this was made possible. And credit should go to Neil Ardley & Ian Burchnall who both laid down the foundation for our success too. They may have come up short themselves, but they played their part in the success story that Luke was able to complete by his brilliant Management, which in turn, took us over the line in the end. And not forgetting those shrewd signings that helped just a little bit too.
