  1. Hello, @Sheffield Pie. Great to see you adding your thoughts, welcome to PON! Pleased to have you here.
  2. Hello, @PieHard. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham. I am pleased to see you have opened your account, double those digits and you will be way on your way towards making the first team.
  3. Hello, @Steve Harvey. Welcome to the community! If you get involved, and post you will find the Pride of Nottingham to be brilliant.
  4. Hello, @Stringy Bob. We already have a DangerousSausage, so why not a Stringy Bob? You wouldn't happen to be made out of cheese? πŸ˜‰ Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham.
  5. Hello, @cher1, @Michaeltharvey and @canuckpie. Don't be shy, it's good to be welcoming three new members. Which of you will be the first to break the ice? Come on, spill the beans and welcome!
  6. Hello, @Johnnykingofthepies. Would you tell us a little about yourself, so we can all hail the king? At least let us know a little something. Welcome to the community!
  7. It's a step towards a managerial career, but I have to admit I never saw Jon Stead as anything more than a coach. He never seemed like the type to want to lead a team. On the pitch, he was quiet and at times easily annoyed. I wish him well at Rovers.
  8. I wish I had more time because I prefer watching football where teams are encouraged to pass crisply and with purpose. Lee Carsley has done well taking over from Gareth Southgate and lets his team play great attacking football. @Robbie, I think he was sabotaged by the media and the whole Royal Family situation. He would have been a good appointment, in my opinion, but at least he gets to continue with the U21s. The highlights of the game are a joy to watch too.
  9. I actually miss football. My day-to-day job takes up a lot of my time, but football is one of the few escapes I have. I find other things to do, so I’m not completely obsessed with attending games. It does allow me to spend time with my family, but the season gives me something outside of work and, more importantly, something to look forward to. As for news, most of it happens before I know, so I don’t think about it. It happens, I will find out, and I don’t feel the need to check because I never seem to have the time during the day.
  10. It’s clever that a team has found a way to train their players to beat the offside trap and ruling. At the same time, I don’t think it’s in the spirit of the game. It’s rare for a small club to make themselves heard, and the change does clarify the situation in the footnote of the offside law.
  11. I like what I’ve seen so far from the upgrade. It’s much cleaner and easier on the eyes. The old PON looked great, but it had started to feel a bit dated. This new version looks modern. Some might not be keen on the lightweight theme, but it gives a nice simple look. Wondering how long it’ll take for the site to be fully back to 100%.
  12. These are good friendlies, and they should give the fans a lift while testing the squad against teams Notts don’t usually face. I’m hoping for a few strong home games to be announced. If Notts could bring in Leicester City or another top club, it would be fantastic.
  13. He was a musical genius with clever and fun lyrics. It’s very sad to hear of his passing at the age of 80. May he rest in peace.
  14. I’m hoping the signings still to come will be big ones that show we’re aiming for promotion. I doubt we’ll get a keeper like Alex Bass, but someone reliable would do. A striker and a creative attacking midfielder who can score goals at our level would really add something. We’ve already got a strong squad, but improving the quality would send a message that we’re not dwelling on the play-off loss and are going for it this time.
  15. I’m losing faith in the way some of these changes are being made, especially when it feels like they don’t have the best interests of the game at heart. FIFA need to stop messing with the World Cup. I enjoy watching the early matches, but the more teams they add, the less special it feels. The last few competitions have already seemed bloated, especially since 2016.
  16. It looks like the club are getting the infrastructure sorted before bringing in a coach. Several clubs are also looking for managers, and having things in place like this could help us stand out. The squad and our fanbase are important, but improving the training ground and other facilities can only be a positive step.
  17. The board are clearly working hard to modernise the club’s structure. Since the Reedtz brothers took over, Notts have come a long way. Making changes every few seasons in the right areas can really make a difference. Someone experienced with injuries, like Dr Rhodes, should have a good impact. We had quite a few injuries last season, which we’ll hopefully avoid going forward. What matters is making sure players return stronger and more prepared.
  18. I wasn’t at the game but listened on the radio. I’ve watched the game’s footage today and think Will Jarvis is a good choice for Man of the Match.
  19. I don't usually vote for players just because they scored. I focus on their overall performance, but this time it felt like a close choice between David McGoldrick, Nick Tsaroulla, and Will Jarvis. Despite a strong showing, I think Tsaroulla can step aside for McGoldrick and Jarvis. Ultimately, it comes down to which player I feel stood out the most, and that decision was much harder for me. I'm not going to reveal who I voted for, but I do believe it was well-deserved.
  20. The site currently has only three active subscribers due to the patch issue that cancelled all subscriptions to the Pride of Nottingham. What a shame! I have spoken to the gaffer and seen some of his recent efforts. If you were one of the four previously active subscribers, please don’t let the lack of article content discourage you. The site is still highly valuable. I recently visited a Grimsby Town fan site to predict the final league standings, and it made me truly appreciate the cleanliness of PON. The content largely depends on the gaffer and his personal health, which everyone would agree comes first. In the meantime, we are working to restore all the excellent value provided to visitors and members.
  21. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham, @NcfcWak. Soon you should be greeted by some of our regular contributors, but until then why not share a little about yourself and your background supporting Notts?
  22. This is how I predict the final league table will look. I think Notts will keep flirting with the automatic spots but will stay just outside. Walsall and Bradford City will take the top two places, with AFC Wimbledon finishing third. Looking at the playoffs, I would back Notts to make the final, but I think the promotion will ultimately go to either Doncaster or Port Vale.
  23. He has always shown great promise since joining, and has made it clear we don't need to worry about losing Dan Crowley. Our play from the back is now less predictable compared to when Crowley was in the team, though there are aspects of his game we still miss. Charlie Whitaker is proving he has a good eye for goal and the potential to become an important first-team player. It would be a mistake to overlook extending his contract. Now, it’s up to Notts to maximise his development and continue shaping him into a professional footballer.
  24. I already have Robbie, unless I get a second vote?
  25. A world-class boxer and a brilliant fighter in the ring, yet an even better businessman who earned millions more from his association with grills than he did from boxing. George Foreman was boxing royalty and will be deeply missed. Rest in peace.
