  1. This season, both Wrexham and Notts have proven to be too strong for the league. Wrexham deserves recognition for securing the National League title by defeating us and later cementing their victory with a 3-1 win over Boreham Wood. Under the Hollywood dream, they have successfully transitioned and distinguished themselves from other clubs like Salford, who appear to believe they are entitled to more success than they have earned. Wrexham’s success is a result of their hard work and determination.
  2. It's time to buy in, cheer on, and make this club what we all know it can be by investing your support into a season ticket everyone!

  5. If I had to take a guess, my first thought would be Darren Ward.
  6. The players put on an impressive performance to secure a 5-2 victory over Maidstone United. Goalkeeper Archie Mair was in top form, making some crucial saves to keep Maidstone at bay. Jim O’Brien was also excellent, controlling the midfield and creating chances for his teammates. One of the highlights of the game was when Ruben Rodrigues stepped aside to allow O’Brien to take a penalty and complete his hat trick. It was a great display of sportsmanship and team spirit. The entire squad is really coming together and playing some fantastic football. This win is a testament to their hard work and determination. Well done Notts!
  7. Macaulay Langstaff, Cedwyn Scott, Sam Austin and John Bostock have all been excellent signings for Notts County, following the pattern of recruiting strong. Gateshead wouldn’t want to lose Langstaff and Scott, so that was a master-stroke by Notts. Sam Austin was the captain of his previous club and was settled there, but he has made the move up superbly. John Bostock is better than this level and is a massive coup for the club. He’s also a really nice guy! Even the loan signings have been a lot better than previous methods. Jodi Jones being settled here with his contract expiring would be an awesome addition. All in all, great work by Notts County!
  8. I really liked Drissa Traore when he was at Notts County. He was a classy player who could dribble, pass and shoot. Due to a string of injuries and lack of recognition from the manager, Drissa was unable to showcase his abilities. But I could see he had a spark in him that made him stand out. He was too good for the lower leagues, and I'm glad he moved on to bigger and better things. He did great at Forest Green Rovers and Swindon Town, where he helped them get promoted. He was a joy to watch.
  9. I have always been fascinated by the history and culture of Notts County, the oldest professional football club in the world. Founded in 1862, the club has witnessed and shaped the evolution of the beautiful game for over a century and a half. Notts County has a distinctive and rich history that makes me proud to be a fan. One of the aspects that makes Notts County unique is its involvement in some of the most memorable matches in football history. I will never forget the thrill of watching Notts County host Manchester City at Meadow Lane in the FA Cup fourth round in 2011. The match finished 1-1, with Notts County taking the lead through a stunning goal by Neal Bishop. The atmosphere was electric, and the fans were ecstatic to see their team hold their own against one of the richest clubs in the world. The replay at Etihad Stadium was also a memorable occasion, with Notts losing 5-0, they put up a brave fight. Another highlight of Notts County's history was the invitation to open up Juventus' new stadium in 2011. Juventus, one of the most successful clubs in Europe, chose Notts County as their opponents because of their historical connection. Juventus adopted their black and white striped shirts in 1903 after receiving a set from Notts County as a gift. The friendly match was a celebration of this bond, and Notts County did not disappoint. They drew 1-1 with Juventus, with Lee Hughes scoring a late equalizer that sent the travelling fans into raptures. It was an incredible honour to see Notts County play in such a prestigious venue and witness the mutual respect and friendship between the two clubs. Of course, Notts County's history is not all glory and glamour. The club has also faced many challenges and hardships over the years, such as relegations, financial troubles, and managerial changes. However, these downs have only made me more determined to support Notts County and to hope for better days ahead. I believe that Notts County has a resilient spirit and a loyal fan base that will help it overcome any obstacle. I believe that Notts County has a promising future with a dedicated new owner investing in the club to revive its history and reputation as one of the oldest and most prestigious clubs globally. Notts County is more than just a football club to me. It is a part of my identity, my heritage, and my passion. I am proud to be a part of its distinctive and rich history, and I look forward to being a part of its future.
  10. Well, it's time to address the trickier point - the final two games. With Notts having secured second place, I don't think the pressure is really on us. However, we have Luke Williams, who seems to have much higher standards when it comes to games that we could be using as practice for the playoffs. I don't know much about Maidstone United, but I believe we have struggled against them previously when Notts first played in the National League. As for the players, Aden Baldwin, Sam Austin, Macaulay Langstaff, and Jodi Jones are all players I feel deserve to start, and I hope Williams gives them time on the pitch. Baldwin needs to get more match minutes so that he's at his best for the final promotion run.
  11. Mapperley, Edwalton, West Bridgford, Leeds and now Manchester. At least 1.4 miles, 4 miles, up to a maximum of 74 miles.
  12. This article provides an interesting insight into the 2022/2023 season for Notts. I found it informative. The author did well to highlight how the team has moved on from signing big-name players to signing unproven players, which some fans may not have been convinced by. However, the team's first run out showed some promising performances, and subsequent wins gave us hope for the season ahead. I can relate to the team's previous issues, such as failing to win against "bogey" clubs and struggling to win on away games. However, this season seems to be different, with the team winning against those clubs and performing well on away days. Despite a few setbacks, the team's success has exceeded pre-season expectations and given us a chance to win the league.
  13. I appreciate Luke Williams' update on the absence of Aden Baldwin and Richard Brindley during the recent match against Wrexham. It was disappointing not to have them in the team, especially since they had played well in the previous match against Wealdstone. It's good to hear that the reason for their absence was not due to any serious injury and that they are likely to be back for the upcoming game against Woking. I always want to see the strongest possible team on the field, and it's encouraging to know that the defensive pairing will be available for selection again soon. It's clear that injuries can be a setback for any team, but the fact that the players are recovering and getting back to full fitness is reassuring. I'm looking forward to seeing how they perform in the upcoming fixture, and I'm hopeful that they will be able to contribute to a positive result for the team.
  14. You heard it here first, straight from The Skipper’s mouth: Notts County will win 5-0 against Woking! To be frank, I do think Notts will respond in a positive fashion. The times we were defeated this season, it's been away games where it took a little time to bounce back to winning ways. Every other time at home, it's been pretty straightforward. I think Woking are doing very well to sit third in the National League; I don't think anyone would have predicted that. And whilst the game is going to be a challenge, this time the pressure will be solely on the away team. There's zero need for points at this stage. Wrexham won't slip up; that's my personal belief. We gave them a good scare; we went toe to toe, but now it's about preparation for the playoffs and ensuring that chance of promotion this season isn't missed. Woking will want to secure third place; I don't want that position to be fulfilled by Chesterfield.
  15. The metaverse theory and time travel are two fascinating concepts that have captured the imagination of many. The metaverse theory proposes a virtual reality where users can interact with computer-generated environments and other users, while time travel explores moving through different points in time. Both concepts have been popularised in science fiction and have sparked many debates and discussions. It would be interesting to see how these two ideas could intersect and what implications that could have for our understanding of reality.
  16. Hello @Dry Nelson Ray, I’m not sure if any other Wrexham fans have ever joined us here. What made you decide to come on? It’s welcoming to see when fans of other clubs come on and offer a different insight. Don’t be put off from joining in; we’re a very friendly group of Notts fans.
  17. The concept of the multiverse has been a topic of discussion in scientific circles for several decades now. It is an idea that suggests the existence of multiple universes beyond our own, each with its unique physical laws and properties. While this theory has not yet been conclusively proven, it has gained traction in recent years as scientists continue to explore the mysteries of the cosmos. So, what is the multiverse theory, and why is it such a big deal? For many, the idea of a multiverse offers a compelling answer to some of life's biggest questions. Is there life beyond our planet? Is time travel possible? What happens after we die? The multiverse theory suggests that these questions may have answers in other universes, where the laws of physics may be vastly different from our own. However, there are also many who are sceptical of the multiverse theory. They argue that it is a highly speculative idea, with little evidence to support it. Others have suggested that the concept of a multiverse is unfalsifiable, meaning that it cannot be tested or proven through scientific inquiry. So, where do you stand on the multiverse theory? Do you believe that it could be the ultimate answer to life's biggest questions, or do you think that it is a flawed concept that should be approached with caution? What implications might the existence of multiple universes have for our understanding of the universe and our place within it? Let's discuss! https://www.livescience.com/multiverse
  18. Hello @DangerousSausage,

I just wanted to take a moment to commend you on your input on the PON site. Next season, I will strive to do the Prediction League. Yet, I wanted to take a moment to say that I enjoy reading your posts and feel that you're one of the standout members of this community. Keep sharing your sense of humour because it's great to see!

  19. Hi @super_ram, just checking in as I saw you were still up browsing the PON site. How are you keeping?

The Wrexham result was a bit disappointing; however, I do feel confident about the playoffs. Speaking of that, I hope Derby manages to claw their way back into League One playoff space. It must be a challenging season for the Rams and another frustrating one for the suffering supporters.

Thanks for asking  @TheSkipper.I'm bearing up well ,getting on with my life and getting used to being on my own ,except I'm not on my own thanks to so many PoN  wellwisher  adding to the support by my family and friends. Life goes on.

I also think Notts will be ok in, as it seems, the playoffs.

I have mixed feelings regards The Rams. If we do manage to get back in the playoffs and miraculously gain promotion it would mean another massive rebuild with transfer and other post administration restrictions still in place. Remaining in League One will also require another rebuild with restrictions, but at least we will have more than the three weeks we had last season.

All the best to you @TheSkipper ,as I said life goes on(one way or another}:super::sheep:

It’s the least I can do to ask and show that I am here. Seeing you on so late just made me want to reach out a little more. The Wrexham result was a flash in the pan; not many teams have managed to force those types of mistakes this season. I hope Derby secures a playoff spot. I read that you had a meeting about the sanctions that were placed on you. Has that happened yet? Do you feel the restrictions will be lifted? I’m sorry; I don’t remember how long those were imposed on you.

On another day Notts would have won v Wrexham and probably won the league quite comfortably. On another day Richard Keogh would clear,, Zamora wouldn't score and Derby could get promoted.Fine margins !!!

Rams are apparently having discussions with the EFL but nothing definite as yet.Another year of restrictions but hoping for some relaxation of terms

  20. Notts County's recent match against Wrexham was a nail-biting affair, with both teams fighting tooth and nail for the coveted National League title. However, many fans have been left wondering whether Notts' performance was impacted by nerves, as they failed to score the victory after leading 1-0 and ultimately lost the match. With promotion to the English Football League at stake, it's natural for players to feel the weight of expectations and pressure to perform on such a big occasion. But what can fans do to help keep their team calm and composed, and what strategies should the head coach, Luke Williams, employ to ensure his players remain focused on their ultimate goal? In this discussion, we'll explore the impact of nerves on Notts' recent performance against Wrexham, and what fans and the coaching staff can do to help alleviate this pressure. We'll also consider the wider implications of such nerves on the team's promotion hopes and strategies that can be employed to keep the players focused on the task at hand. Join us in sharing your thoughts and insights on this crucial topic as we analyse the role of mental preparation in Notts County's push for promotion. Also, check out the gaffer's discussion about leading into the playoffs and how you believe they should be approached, such as whether certain key players need resting.
  21. I completely agree with @JIMBO . It's interesting to think about what could have been if Notts County had signed him earlier in his career. It's true that his Wikipedia page doesn't paint the most positive picture of his career, but as you mentioned, he has had success with other clubs. I think it's important to remember that football is a team sport, and the success of an individual player is often influenced by the support and guidance of their team and management. Regarding his current situation playing in the Welsh league at the age of 29, I can understand why others would find it surprising. It's not common for players to move to a lower level league later in their career, but there could be various factors at play. Perhaps he wasn't receiving the playing time or opportunities he wanted at higher level clubs, or maybe he was attracted by the prospect of a new challenge or location. Either way, I hope he is happy and fulfilled with his current situation, and who knows, maybe he will find success and further his career from there.
  22. It's important not to dwell too much on the defeat or the defensive errors that cost us the game. Despite this setback, Notts County have been performing incredibly well this season, and have improved significantly compared to previous seasons. The players clearly care about the team, but as with any game, mistakes can be made when under pressure. During the first half, I felt that Notts could have done better in terms of possession, although we did end the half on a high note. Wrexham made it difficult for us, and we were lucky with the high defensive line that we were playing. In hindsight, we should have adapted to this earlier, before they scored their equaliser. However, I must say that I was entertained by the team's efforts to get back into the game, and although we missed the chance to equalise from the penalty spot, we should still be proud of the lads for their hard work and determination. It's important to remember that even good teams can lose games, and it's unfortunate that we were not at our best for the full 90 minutes.
  23. I am uncertain if it is reasonable to leave out the exceptional talent that is Ruben Rodrigues if he is fully fit to play at @CliftonMagpie. If he is below 80%, then maybe you could consider leaving him out, but even then, he would still be more skilful and valuable than most of the Wrexham team. Ruben's class is difficult to handle for opposing teams when he is in top form, and he generally performs his best in high-pressure games, which cameras and big games are two of his favourite things. Moreover, with the opportunity to reclaim the top spot in the league, every player will want to start. Luke Williams will most likely comment on the training levels, as it is a positive message to convey before such a significant game. I completely agree with starting Cadwyn Scott and Macauley Langstaff upfront. They have a fantastic partnership. I would not leave out Jodi Jones, Aarron Nemane or Sam Austin; I would love to see them all play. Sadly, I suspect that Luke Williams will place Austin on the bench. He will likely opt for the more energetic of the three, not that Austin does not perform well when he plays. The others, however, offer a lot more energy and pace. It feels like a Nottingham takeover in Wrexham! Their supporters are already suggesting that we avoid drinking before the game. If we must, they suggest we do it in Chester!
  24. At the start of the match, Sam Austin and Jodi Jones looked energised. Together with Aaron Nemane, they covered a lot of ground that Ruben Rodrigues would usually have covered. Despite being short on players, we still managed to secure a convincing win. It was a good call by Luke Williams to rest Ruben. Some comments before the game suggested that we would lose because of this decision. However, it's evident that those doubters were wrong. It was common sense that Ruben had limped off in the previous match and needed rest before the Wrexham game. It didn't appear to be a serious injury that would keep him out of a match.
  25. Luke Williams has done well with handling the media this season. He's much better at it than the likes of Neal Ardley or Ian Burchnall, although both of those were nice guys. Williams' knowledge is infectious, and I think it is rubbing off on the players. His ability to communicate effectively with the media is an essential skill, and it's clear that he has a good understanding of what is required. His confidence and knowledge of the game come across in his interviews, and it's evident that he has the respect of the players. It's great to see a manager who can handle the pressures of the media and still maintain a positive attitude. This can only be good for the team, as it helps to create a more relaxed and confident atmosphere.
