  1. We're above where the squad should be, but our lack of creating clear cut chances, even during our good run of form from mid-September onwards, is still a massive issue. (Barnet, Swindon first half, Cambridge first half, Bristol Rovers, Colchester, Chesterfield, Barrow, Salford, Gillingham, Tranmere first half).

We've got absolutely no clue how to create chances. Ball retention is terrible, our passing has no pace to it and we've got no idea where we want the ball to go or who we want it to go to, when we're in possession. So instead, when nobody is in space, we just launch it long to Dennis or Jatta who don't want it being played long to them.

Our wing-backs make my blood boil sometimes. Dither, dither, occasional step over, turn back, turn forward, turn back, pass back, go again.

  2. Very annoyed with yesterday. A complete lack of pressing throughout the game, simple passes going astray and not reaching their intended target and a lack of fight and battle. Once, when we tried to break yesterday and Bennetts' 5-yard pass to Dennis found no one because Dennis positioning was poor and another time Bennetts produced a fantastic ball over from the left to the advertising boards on the opposite side.

Another big problem was our continuous launching of the ball forward to McFadzean and Grimes, who's bread and butter is winning aerial duels. Instead of playing through the lines with passes (from which we had forced two early corners) and pressing them, knowing both of them are slow and both of them were both on yellow cards in the first half. This is a combined problem of tactics and player mindset.

This isn't the first time this season we've played like this away from home. We were the same against Barrow, Barnet and Bristol Rovers. Two of them we got away with, because fought and battled. Yesterday we didn't fight. A game with 0 shots on target for the first hour and a game lacking in creative spark and quality, with the game being open for someone to take control of it. A total lack of intensity.

It's these kind of performances that really make me doubt this team. Tsaroulla isn't doing enough at the moment and went walking into centre-midfield for their first goal. A lack of quality at wing-back and in goal. That should be the final straw for Kelle Roos. It's also obvious we're in need of a creative midfielder and a striker to challenge Jatta and Dennis.

  3. We're going to need additions because the squad needs strengthening due to our underwhelming summer and because you can't just stick with what you've got. You can't stand still in football.

None of the potential five areas are certain to start but we do bolstering. We definitely need a goalkeeper, more creativity in the 10, especially as Luker is injured and Grant is better out of possesion than creatively. We need a RWB due to Cotter most likely going back and Tsaroulla being a temporary solution on that side.

A back-up striker because Jatta and Dennis need support. I remember Donny getting Rob Street last season, to help Joe Ironside and Billy Sharp (Street scored twice against us on the last day). Probably a CDM as well as cover on loan due to the undisclosed amount of time Palmer is out for and despite Robbo dropping in there, he's better as a number 8, rather than a DM.

  4. That was probably one of the worst games of football I've ever seen, and I wish I was exaggerating. The ball spent most of the time in the air.

Whilst we've won 3 of our last 4, there was only certain periods of times where we actually played well in those games, plus that of Newport on the opening day. Today, the lack of a clear plan and identity was on show. It wasn't due to Gillingham high pressing us, not at all. When they didn't press, we looked very unsure as to what to do with the ball and where it needed to go. No surprise the ball went out of play for most of added time.

Quite a lot of the time, the ball would be played into the channels in hope we would counter press their defence and try to win the ball back, when it got there. There wasn't much in terms of passing patterns or structures. It was all just very slow and a bit clueless. Under Luke and Stu, I could work out what we were trying to do. Still trying to work out what we are at the moment.

Are we a possesion based side? Are we a long ball team? Do we go down the wings and put crosses in? Are we hybrid of possession and being more physical and doing the battling qualities more? Like, what are we? Feels like we've chucked away our identity, when it all needed was an upgrade in head coach and tweaks.

I've spoken about Gagliardi in his own dedicated topic page, but whilst he's left, the problems he created still remain.

  5. Delighted at this news.

For the funds we've made through player sales and staff( Macca, Crowley, Nemane, Bass, Williams, Harley, Lawtey, Scott) and then the revenue streams and (Padel, Nest, Hospitality, club partners) and then season ticket sales, we probably should've aimed higher. I believe the Reedtz bros statement about having a good budget, with not having to rely on owner funding as much now, due to our revenue streams. This increase in funding, has meant a bit more money to play with, money we haven't recruited smartly with.

Things to consider here. 1) I know not all revenue and income will go into the budget. 2) I don't expect us to spend big. I do expect us, with our model and how we've recruited since the bros bought us, to recruit smartly.

Some big things about this transfer window have made me consistently frustrated with him. This was our summer to kick on and go one step further, however we've not spent money that we genuinely have. I refuse to believe we're spending that much on loan fees. Speaking of loans, we've stocked up on them way too much. Loans should not be the bulk of your recruitment, but instead the cherry(ies) on top of your cake.

This leads me on to another point. In my opinion, we could've bought better players than what we have done this window. Some players have done really well so far. Matt Dennis and Tom Iorpenda. Dennis especially, as he has exceeded expectations, with the majority of our fans thinking Jatta would slot straight back in. Iorpenda has given us some much needed physicality and Norburn brings much needed leadership.

Luker looked good before his injury and we haven't seen enough of Hall yet. In the CAM department, I would've tried to bring a permanent option, rather than taking up another loan slot. Bennetts hasn't shown anywhere near enough and for the data we have, we bought someone who's played 35 competitive games in 3 years for 3 clubs. This is where we could've bought Vincent Harper, Ben Jackson or Ellis Taylor. Players who've proved their worth and wouldn't cost a fortune (Harper was a free agent).

Aljofree hasn't looked comfortable this season and with Ness' injury issues and the news of Macari before the season, there was the chance to bring in Harrison Burke on a permanent deal. Someone who we could've developed and eventually sold on for a good fee. Barry Cotter hasn't been good enough and hasn't shown anything that's an upgrade on Kellan Gordon. We had the chance to sign Macauley Southam-Hales, a 2-time promotion winner on a free transfer. You bring in Burke and Southam-Hales over Aljofree and Cotter, you're immediately improving the squad.

Then there's Kelle Roos. In his interview when discussing this summer, Roberto said about researching or scouting the lower leagues in Italy, in his time at Football Radar. How convenient we sign a keeper from Serie C, who has got more poor reviews than good reviews from previous clubs. You don't sign players off of fan views, but the video evidence is there. All of us have seen Roos' performances and his lack of commanding his area and organisation. To replace Bass, I didn't expect us to sign a 33-year old on a 2-year deal with an option of a third, when we could've signed someone younger and someone who we could develop further and again, sell on for a good fee.
