Notts County were denied a clear penalty in Friday's 2-2 draw with Crewe Alexandra at Gresty Road.

Chris Dagnall cancelled out Adam Campbell's early opener for the Magpies, before captain Michael O'Connor restored the visitors' lead with a second-half finish against his former club.

However, County's hopes of recording a fifth straight win were dashed when James Jones made amends for gifting the visitors their early lead.

Kevin Nolan's charges should have had a penalty late on when Shola Ameobi was brought down by goalkeeper Ben Garratt in the box, but referee Gavin Ward ended up penalising the Newcastle striker instead.
