Notts County manager Jamie Fullarton has described the first 20 minutes of his side’s game at York City as the best under his tenure, and left it late to make changes because he was confident his starting XI could force an equaliser.

The Magpies fell two goals behind at Bootham Crescent in the first halfΒ as Michael Coulson and Bradley Fewster struck for the hosts, and although Lubo Satka’s second-half own goal kept the visitors in the game, 2-1 was the final scoreline.

Speaking ahead of his side's clash against Hartlepool,Β Fullarton said: "It's disappointing to lose any game, but on reflection of the performance, it's even more so. The first 20 minutes was probably the most accomplished we've produced since I've been here.

β€œIt's vital we don't give teams something to hold on to, especially ones struggling to stay in the division.Β We did and they grew in confidence. At no point did I feel we were out of the game, I always felt we could get something.

"We waited to make changes. If you see the reaction of the other bench, they would agree. They made changes earlier."
