John Sheridan has admitted that the Notts County fringe players who lined up against Boreham Wood have given him a welcome selection dilemma ahead of the Newport County clash.

Rob Milsom, Graham Burke, Stanley Aborah and Genaro Snijders helped the Magpies to a 2-0 win against their non-league opponents in the FA Cup and book a second round date with Peterborough United.

"The players who came in didn't do themselves any harm," Sheridan told the Nottingham Post. "They passed the ball quickly and they controlled the game.

"When you are losing games and the team has produced poor performances then the manager has a problem.

"Does he give a chance to one or two of those players who haven't figured?

"It's an opportunity for those players to get back into the manager's plans and give him a problem for the team selection.

"And the lads who came in on Tuesday night did that with their performance."
