Young Fans - On Match Days

On match days, I like meeting people who speak to me and who are my friends. I like the MLSB, especially with the table top football that was introduced. Before that, I didn’t really enjoy going in but I have made friends from it.

I think Notts need to get younger fans involved because the ones I have met and gotten to know are passionate but there is not a lot for us to do.

Notts is known for being a family club, which I know my father is proud of because he attended games as a child himself with family but I do think if there was more for fans of my age to do, more families would go matches.

Meeting the players, helping and getting involved is fun but I do not think this is for every one of my age.

It gets a little boring, especially when Notts are not doing well and it’s not about winning but school on the following Monday can be hard for a young fan. We are not an attractive club to follow, which I get but what we are is local and that is special.

None of my friends admits to supporting Notts, well one does but he doesn’t attend many games.

People you meet can make a difference, but what I would like to see is activities during half time, which would engage with fans of my age. I do not think Notts will attract new supporters unless they are not from a family which supports or follows the club.

Which I think is a bigger shame because I do enjoy match days, yet if I am honest I do think much more could be done.

I am a 9 year old fan and the son of @notts-joe. Views are my own, I would like to know your thoughts.

I praise the club for what they, the way they have got children involved but I have always said more can be done. Having taken the photos in the club shop for a brief time - I met many young fans who had a great heart and attitude towards the club (which you will know).

Your friend Lee, he's unlike a lot of young fans and I think there's certainly more that could do done on match days.

This interest will lead to further loyalty, so maybe at some stage we will see more but I wouldn't make recommendations myself.

Great post. You should list the things you would like the club to do, you never know they might read it.

I agree but I do not like how the football table has recently started being abused by older boys who dont allow younger children to play at all.

Thank you for the comment Dan.

I may list some ideas but I feel they have better things to be doing.

you make some great points @super_pie, i am sure the club appreciate the voice of a younger fan. it helps to see things, so i would recommend writing your suggestions down like @Dan mentioned.

Notts Joe, thanks to your son! That was interesting and well written.

Suggestions as to how we can improve the experience for our younger supporters are  always welcome. If any of you have children or grandchildren with ideas, I'd love to hear them

Thanks

The club needs to do something to encourage younger fans, as a quick scan of the crowd photos will show that its the same OLD faces that turn up every week, and although the photographer concentrates on them , there are few younger fans in the crowd. If we don't get them whilst they are young and impressionable, they will be lost to the never never land that is at the top of premier league.

Never able to get or afford a ticket

Never ware the shirt when they are loosing.

Good write up by @super_pie, will have a word with my grand-daughter, see if she can come up with any ideas, on what she'd like to see. Look forward to next article.

I agree with the young mans comments totally a little bit more encouragement from the club would go down well also making under 12s a £1 on match days to put bums on seats wich would create revenue through the catering and club shop

On the day we went to Liverpool prior to the game there were all types of entertainment all around the ground such as Penalty Shooting and five a side football whilst I realise we are not a club like Liverpool ( Yet ) this would incur very little outlay from the club but would be sowing seeds for the up and coming Magpie supporters of the future
