eusebio is one of the legends of football that i recall @Joe Jones writing about on the sister site to pon, football manics. it was a brilliant read. its a shame fm never really took off despite all the work.

i had heard of him before but it was that article from jj that made me appreciate him a whole lot more.

i dont think clips of him playing does him justice on how good he really was and i think he was better then pele, considering the team brazil had to make him stand out.

It is difficult to say definitively that Eusebio was better than Pele or Maradona, as all three players were incredibly talented and successful in their own right.

However, I would argue that Eusebio was better than Pele because of his impressive achievements. Eusebio became the first non-white footballer to win the European Footballer of the Year award in 1965 and the first African-born player to shine in a World Cup.

On the other hand, it is difficult to compare Eusebio with Maradona as they played in different eras and their styles of play were quite different. Maradona was known for his incredible dribbling ability and creativity on the ball, while Eusebio was known for his speed, power, and clinical finishing. What is certain is that all three players left an indelible mark on the game of football and will be remembered as some of the greatest players of all time.

@super_ram: One of the greatest, I think I would put him above Pele, but I would put Messi and Ronaldo above him too.

The latter player has done interviews in the past where he's spoken highly of Eusébio as being one of the players that inspired him with his own journey. Having seen old world cup recap shows with my dad, I know Eusébio was a classy player.
