Maynard needs to start thinking about playing what he believes is his strongest team for a big part of the match now.Β

In my opinion what I see as his strongest team is.

Bass,

Macari Platt, Bedeau,Β

Robertson, Edwards, CrowleyΒ

Nemane, Jones, Scott

Jatta.

Subs,

Didzy, Austin, Palmer, Slocombe, McDonald, Gordon, ReynoldsΒ

Tsaroulla has injury doubts, Palmer may not be match fit so Edwards plays in his place.

I've included Reynolds on the subs bench. He deserves it.

There may be some trialists that Stuart wants to play, but I'm sure Stuart should be able to judge trialists from the training ground.

Notts should be treating this match seriously to keep a clean sheet and score some goalsΒ

It's a Shame Notts couldn't have held on to Macca till this Match and Show York City What They Let Go.

Full Agreement @RobbieΒ It is time Maynard put out the Team he's Seriously thinking about Starting the New Season with. Something I Thought He Should Have Done Germany.

That's Why I said Stuart Maynard. I'm Still Not Sure.

York shouldn’t pose as much of a challenge, no disrespect intended, but this would be a pre-season friendly that I would hope Notts could control more easily. We are getting closer to the start of the season, and while the result isn’t important to me, the performances are increasingly so.

We need to see our starting eleven at their best, match-fit, and ready to kick off the campaign. I hope we can display a bit of flair and creativity against York. I know it’s a pre-season friendly and these matches are meant to be relaxed training games, but I honestly would like to see some form starting to develop, along with standards in the players’ individual performances.

@TheSkipperΒ I agree we are getting near to the start of the season, performances are beginning to be important and Maynard needs to start thinking about who will play in his preferred 11. I’m sure he knows all this without us telling him, he will have plan to use pre season friendlies to build up fitness and stamina ready for the start of the campaign.

This should be a good workout for the squad. Let’s start with the first eleven and make changes as needed to give other players an opportunity. The performance should be satisfactory, and I suspect we might see more trialists. There’s also a possibility that Notts might sign a new player before the game.

Playing a friendly against York is a good idea. It will help build some momentum as we head into the season.

I’ll be keeping a close eye on the updates, keen to see how things progress and which players excel. This should be the time when the starting eleven begins to take shape, and hopefully, we’ll witness that.

For those heading to York, I hope the weather is pleasant and you enjoy the friendly match.

i really hope we give the starting squad slightly longer than 45 minutes, maybe 60. then break the rest of the minutes up. give ourself something that our main 11 can get stuck into and build further. 45 minutes might be fairer, but as others have said we are approaching the season. trialists can impress still.

York will be a good trip for fans. It’s a nice day out and the match should be more enjoyable. I’d like to see a stronger team playing for longer, but I think it will stay as two halves of 45 minutes each. I’m curious to know how the minor issues mentioned by Stuart Maynard are progressing.

Ideally, the team will be nearing full readiness for selection. I’m aware that Matt Palmer still has some work ahead, but hopefully, he’ll be back for the Tranmere match.

It’s a friendly match, so I’m not too bothered about who plays. I just want the players to get some game time so they’re ready for the upcoming season. With league games slowly approaching, it’s important to ensure most of the squad is at the right level. The result isn’t a concern for me, but I do hope the lads put in a good performance.

It would be good to give Ryley Reynolds more game time. I've been hearing lots of positive things about his performances. For the rest of the team, use the best players and then bring on a weaker team in the second half. I'm still hoping we sign a striker, but it seems some of the trialists, like Alex Kirk, might no longer be with us. It will be interesting to see which trialists are there and who plays.

I had hoped to make some of the pre-season friendlies, but for one reason or another I haven't managed it. :(

York is a very interesting place toΒ visit.Β OddlyΒ enough last night Cheeky had an old episode of 'Who wantsΒ to be a millionaire on' and a question came up about which city is known forΒ itsΒ gothicΒ architecture. The only time I have been to York was on a school trip to theΒ VikingΒ museum. It would have been nice to have a look around, as @liampieΒ mentioned just to take in the sights before the game.

I would love to see Jodi Jones play as an attacking midfielder, with two other players making up our wing backs. I think we could afford to have him being the player who splits up theΒ opposition'sΒ defence. He'll naturally pick up marks, whichΒ isΒ heΒ playingΒ his direct game can see him support the left and rightΒ side,Β allowing space to open up for others.

Also, it would give him a chance to get shots on target fromΒ outsideΒ the box - something which I would like to see more in the actual season coming up.

It might free up David McGoldrick to make an impact when coming on orΒ starting, as we wouldn't have to play him all the time. I think it might help with his form, because he does try, he just wasn't very impactful when weΒ struggled,Β which is somewhat natural.

I'm also curious to see if Curtis Edwards starts, as I am hearing a lot of good things about his creativity.
