Good afternoon everyone. It's a miserable murky Monday here with occasional rain, & a little windy.

Looks like being an at home day. Maybe watch a DVD later. Just bought an Errol Flynn collection. 

Think I'll watch "The Adventures of Robin Hood"

I good old swashbuckler film will brighten up the day.

I hope you enjoy watching the DVD, Robbie. I keep thinking about watching something at night, but I tend to struggle to find something that interests me.

One thing that keeps jumping out is - "Trapped in Paradise".

I'm taking today, a little slower. I need to finish off my prints and I forgot to publish a Notts Alumni yesterday.

So, I'll reset and start again on the Sunday coming up.

I don't feel unwell, but I have done something to my throat as it's sore, and I sound croaky. I think I need to rest my vocal cord. A weekend of shouting, chanting and singing (at home too) hasn't been a smart choice. ????

I haven't seen the film myself, but I think it's a Xmas Comedy movie.

Record amounts of rain in specific areas of the Country over the last 48 hours.

There's a flood alert for the River Maun today The river is about 500 yards from us. Being we are well above it, so no chance of it flooding here.

Mansfield is actually named after the River Maun.

"The name Mansfield comes from the Old English words maun, meaning the river name, and feld, meaning open country. The town was built around the river.  

The River Maun originates in Kirkby-in-Ashfield and flows through Mansfield, Edwinstowe, and Ollerton, eventually merging with the River Meden to form the River Idle, which eventually flows into the River Trent at West Stockwith, Notts.

Did you know Mansfield gained the royal charter as a market Town in 1227?

The Domesday Book (1086) recorded the settlement as Mammesfeld and market-petition documents of 1227 spelt it Maunnesfeld. 

King Richard II signed a warrant in November 1377 to grant tenants the right to hold a four-day fair each year; the spelling had changed to Mannesfeld.

There are remains of the 12th-century King John's Palace in "Kings Clipstone", between Mansfield & Edwinstowe, & it was an area of retreat for royal families & dignitaries through to the 15th century.

It was here that King William the Lion of Scotland met King Richard I of England (Richard the Lionheart) to congratulate him on his return from the crusades.

Halfway through another week, I haven’t had much free time, but it’s important to focus on my homework. There’s not much to say, though the rain has been pouring at times. It’s starting to feel more like winter now.

The past few weeks, my laptop has been sounding like it's about to take off. I was expecting a trip to the moon, or maybe I would be joining Tony on his holiday. I am sure that would have surprised him, but it was getting annoying.

A common issue with gaming laptops, so I spent an hour just now deep cleaning the bloody thing.

Removed the fans, gave them a good cleaning. Cleaned the motherboard, gave it a good once over with a mini vacuum Cheeky bought. Found quite a few bits of very large dust bits. Put it back together, everything is back to normal. I don't really like cleaning it. I must make a habit of doing it once a month. I won't be flying anywhere now, and nobody at home will be moaning about the sound. ????

I'm starting to feel quite a lot better, but somehow I bit my lip whilst sleeping. No idea how you do that, without waking up. I still don't plan to over do the singing at Morecambe, but I am happy that I am feeling more likely that I am able to go.

@Chris. Your not the only one when it comes to biting lips when sleeping.. I do it quite a lot. 

Good afternoon we are back in sunny Dubrovnik, we’ve completed the first week of our cruise where we visited Souda Bay, Greece, Athens, Katakolon, Corfu and Kotor in Montenegro. Kotor was the only place in that list we hadn’t been to before, it was beautiful sailing in very early in the morning the ship has to negotiate narrow inlets where mountains come down to the sea, we had to anchor off shore boats took us to the port itself which is full of medieval buildings and is a world heritage site. I’ll see if I can post some pictures.

No it won’t let me because they are too big you’ll have to imagine it. 

Today was just a normal school day. Now I am home, I can watch a bit of YouTube, play on my PS5, and come online. It’s been pretty cold outside.

Major Hayman Rooke, in 1787 discovered a Roman villa between Mansfield Woodhouse & Pleasley.

A cache of denarii, 300-400 Roman Silver Coins were found near King's Mill in 1849.

i am looking forward to making the trip to morecambe tomorrow, i just have a few more hours at work and i can then sort everything ahead of the day. work is slowing down, but soon we will be hit with the demand leading up to christmas which is the busiest period. i am enjoying the slowness for once.  

I am spending today in Blackpool, then driving further to Morecambe tomorrow. I had planned to go as far as Fleetwood, but I thought I would have a better chance in Blackpool since it is bigger. It won’t be as far to travel tomorrow, and it will be nice to break up the journey, especially the trip home.

I have been meaning to mention this. My last scan on my leg had a good outcome. I have had the cast redone, and I am able to walk quite well on crutches. I wish I could make it tomorrow, but it’s not wise. I will focus on recovering and attending home games. I have moved into the KOP as it’s easier for me. Once my leg progresses a bit more, they can review what surgery I need so that I can get back to walking unaided.

Did you know that Mansfield was thought to be the centre of Sherwood Forest, & was a stop over for travellers going from Nottingham to Sheffield & Vice Versa? There is a plaque in Mansfield town centre marking the spot .

In the time of Henry II of England, the king visited what is now known as Kings Mill, staying at the home of Sir John Cockle for a night having been hunting in Sherwood Forest. Sir John Cockle was later known as the Miller of Mansfield.
