Good morning, it’s the start of another week.

We’ve got another 5 days of our holiday, yesterday we had a lovely walk in the woods with the family, it was very picturesque with a carpet of golden brown leaves covering the floor, beautiful streams and waterfalls. I’ll see if I can put a picture here.

I’ve got a walk that I occasionally do round a lake in the woods near to where I live. I went last week and  the colours of the orange leaves against the clear blue sky were very striking.

I noticed the shops were noticeably busier with youths loitering around when I went out for my lunch break, so it’s half-term round here!

Quiet week for me but I’ve got a Halloween party on Friday night which I’m dreading. It’s my girlfriend’s work that are doing it, so I won’t know anyone and dressing up just isn’t really my thing anymore. I really don’t understand how Halloween has become such a big event over here, I kind of understand it more for kids but for adults to actually celebrate it, I find it very strange.

Yesterday we went to a great pub after our walk, it was a real old fashioned pub hitch was CAMRA pub of the year with a great selection of real ales (I can hear @super_ram drooling from here). There was no food, no music, no video games just folk enjoying a pint and chatting, perfect.

The barman saw the kids on their phones so he brought over a pack of cards and we played rummy while having our drinks.

Today we are off to another beauty spot for a nice walk, hopefully it’ll stay dry.

Good afternoon.

It's been another cloudy morning here, more rain overnight too. I can't remember when we didn't have a bout of overnight rain. It's becoming the norm at the moment. At the moment it's a balmy 15 deg here.

I thought I had mowed the last cut of grass but the lawn is still growing, so it may need another one. Mr Mole has been hard at work too.

Our apple tree is sprouting some  NEW leaves. We have Daffodil & Crocus plants shooting too. They will all get a shock when we get some cold weather arriving.

I must say the colour of the leaves are much more akin to the colour of leaves that can be seen in more southern climes with the Mulder weather.

Good morning. It's another overcast morning here with a temperature of 9 Deg. Looks like it may remain overcast for the whole day.

Did you know, The name 'Sherwood' was first recorded in 958AD when it was called Sciryuda, meaning 'the woodland belonging to the shire'.

It became a Royal hunting forest after the Norman invasion of 1066, & was popular with many Norman kings, particularly King John & Edward I.

The ruins of King John’s hunting lodge can still be seen near the Nottinghamshire village of Kings Clipstone.

Good morning, it’s a bit damp here where we are in Yorkshire on holiday, it’s only drizzle though so it won’t cramp our style.

We had another nice walk yesterday around a ruined abbey and along a river with beautiful scenery, it was nice enough to have a picnic on a bench.

Later we took our grandkids to Wetherspoons for a meal while their mum and dad had a posh 7 course taster meal at a French restaurant.

We’re off to another beauty spot this afternoon for a walk.

I went to see Sum 41 yesterday, they lived up to the expectations, and I left feeling it was the best gig I have been too. Sometimes, I feel bands let the fans down but with this being their final tour - after their 8th album. The support band were awful, I have seen them as a supporting act 3-4 times now. Each time, I have hated The Bronx. I get what Sum 41 did, set the bar low with them and then play their own hearts out.

It felt like I were being soundboarded (like waterboarding but with terrible sound).

It was worth going, as I haven't managed to see them before, and I know it meant a lot to Kate.

In 1066, in the invasion of England, King William the Conqueror made Sherwood Forest a Royal Hunting Forest.Sherwood Forest was frequently visited by the Mercian Kings.

When the Domesday Book was compiled in 1086, Sherwood Forest covered perhaps a quarter of Nottinghamshire (approximately 19,000 acres) in woodland & heath subject to the forest laws.

The forest gives its name to the Parliamentary constituency of Sherwood Forest (formerly Sherwood before the 2023 Periodic Review of Westminster constituencies)

Mansfield anciently became the pre-eminent in importance among the towns of the Forest.

Good afternoon, it’s grey and drizzly here in Yorkshire.

We’ve had a relaxing day, the rest of the family went to see a waterfall and a castle but we passed on that as it was a bit of an arduous climb and Mrs. T didn’t feel up to it so we stayed in town, had a pootle round the shops and a pint in a real ale pub.

Tonight we are all going out for a family meal as it’s our last night here, we’ll head home tomorrow but too late to watch Notts play Alfreton sadly.

Good morning it’s Friday and the weekend starts here. 

It’s the last day of our holiday in Yorkshire we’ve had a great time with the family and been on some lovely country walks when we could prise the teenagers out of bed 

We’ll be heading home later today but sadly it’ll be too late to go to the match tonight so if you are going give them a cheer from me.

Good Morning. Another overcast & dreary morning here once again, but it is a mild.

Have no plans to go out today. Will probably do an hour in the garden later.

Will be listening to the Notts commentary on the Radio tonight & hopefully we will see a positive result.

Good morning and happy Saturday, there was no park run this morning which I was secretly pleased about as we have a bit of unpacking and various jobs to do.

We had a nice curry from the local curry house last night because Mrs. T didn’t fancy cooking after the long journey home, but there was far too much so half has gone in the freezer to have another day.

Today will be a day of catching up on jobs and relaxing if we can. Have a lovely day whatever you choose to do.

Morning all, a grey start here and the ground is damp it must have been drizzling in the night. I’ve started another jigsaw the last one I got from the charity shop had two missing pieces which was frustrating but that’s the risk you take I suppose for buying a second hand jigsaw. I’ll take it back to the charity shop and put a sticker on to say there’s two pieces missing at least the next person will know.

The latest one I’ve got is also from a charity shop but it’s brand new and the pieces are in a sealed plastic bag so it should be intact. I always look for Gibsons jigsaws I find them good quality.

Good Morning. A dreary overcast morning once again here. Bit chilly this morning too 

Now the clocks have gone back we will experience the twilight effect days like this until the beginning of March next year when things will hopefully brighten up.

Did you know that the town of Bawtry was in Nottinghamshire before it was placed just inside Yorkshire before the Norman conquest?

Bawtry was originally a Roman settlement on Ermine Street, located between Doncaster & Lincoln.  

A small settlement developed around a wharf, & evidence suggests that St Nicholas' Church was first erected during this period. 

Around 1200, a new town was developed next to the old village.Bawtry grew as a river port & commercial center, exporting wool & other items overseas by the mid-14th century.  

Bawtry town center has been designated a Conservation Area to protect its historic and architectural features.
