Notts v Alfreton.

FA Cup 1st Round.

Friday 1st Nov 19:45

What line-up should Stuart Maynard opt for? What will be the key areas for the Magpies to get a victory? What do you think the final score will be?

Stuart has spoken about the importance of the FA Cup and he will be keen to progress in the competition as far as he can.

I think that this match is an opportunity for Stuart Maynard to rest players & allow injured players to recover.

Stuart is most likely to use his squad & Academy players in the first eleven & have some of his senior players on the bench just in case.

It will give the squad players valuable match time. & give them an opportunity to impress. Key areas will be defensively & upfront.

So my team would be,

Slocombe

McDonald, Ness, Cundy,

Martin, Hinchy, Palmer, Gordon

Reynolds, Austin

Brown.

Subs, Abbott, Bedeau, Jatta, Crowley, Bass, Tsaroulla, Cisse

The first eleven should be strong enough to get a result on Friday, but having a strong bench will give Stuart plenty of options, if the match finishes up being tight.

Hopefully, most of the bench won't be needed. My score 3:0 Notts.

Surely you are not being serious.....that defensive line up would be torn to pieces...when they have played individually they have been poor....playing as a back 3 in front of Slocombe would be the end of any potential money spinning FA Cup run.....

Stuart thinks very highly of McDonald & Ness so I'm sure they will figure on Friday if fit.

Cundy is part of the squad so he's sure to figure either in the starting 11 or on the bench..

How is Stuart going to rest his first choice team or even risk them in this match?

If you have an alternative squad for the match name it. Let's see how it compares.

@gtownjohnno

That's a reasonable alternative.

Not sure if Stuart will deviate from the 3-4-2-1 that he prefers but he may make small changes to the shape.

Even with your line up you'll probably see McDonald, Hinchy, Slocombe, Martin, Abbott, Cundy, & Reynolds on the bench

I don't think we'll see Didzy feature at all Friday evening.

I sincerely hope Maynard puts out a strong team, we really could do with a decent cup run for a change.

I've gone half full strength, half 2nd team

GK Sam Slocombe

RCB Lewis Macari

CB Lucas Ness

LCB Rod McDonald

RWB Kellan Gordon

CM Dan Crowley

CM Jack Hinchy

LWB Nick Tsaroulla

CAM Jevani Brown

CAM Sam Austin

ST Alassana Jatta

We're in a position where we can only field Jatta or Didzy as a striker and we don't want Didzy to have burnout. Plus we've got 8 days till Donny.

Also, whilst I'd rather have Crowley in the 10, resting Palmer and Abbott is important as they're our best current midfield partnership and Robbo and Edwards are injured. It'll be crucial to breaking down their inevitable low block

I've been to watch Alfreton a few times this season so I imagine they'll line up with something like this. Lund has a long throw on him and Jed Abbey is one of the top scorers in NLN this season. George Cantrill will run for day and Liam Waldock has good technical quality

GK George Willis

RB Josh Clackstone

CB Adam Anson

CB Max Hunt

LB Nathan Newall

RCM George Cantrill

CM Adam Lund

LCM Liam Waldock

RW Jed Abbey

ST David Moyo

LW Billy Fewster

Half Time.

Mark Stallard: 'Alfreton will consider themselves unlucky to be going in level at half time. They've had two chances and one of them they took. Notts have been kept to shots from distance.'
