Match Discussion: League One - Leicester City (A)
Can’t wait for this match it’s the first time I’ve had a season ticket for a while and the first time I’ve sat in the kop for years.

Emergency alert
At least it wasn’t world war 3 starting. 🤣

Emergency alert
There I was snoozing in front of the telly when my mobile phone started making the most horrendous noise. It was an emergency alert from the government about wild fires, it half frightened me to death, I thought at first our new burglar alarm had gone off, it’s only been installed this morning and in my befuddled state I thought someone was breaking in. 😂 Did anyone else get it?

A message from Chris and Alex
From the club website: Our owners, Chris and Alex Reedtz, have issued a message to supporters on the eve of our 2026-27 Sky Bet League One season-opener against Leicester City. Before embarking on a new and exciting chapter in the club’s history, we’d like to reflect on the campaign that saw us secure promotion to League One. We thank Martin Paterson, his staff and players for their efforts which culminated in an unforgettable day at Wembley, where the team’s outstanding performance and our supporters’ amazing backing were duly rewarded. As is the nature of football, we’ve since bid farewell to several members of our promotion-winning side – but we thank them all for playing their part in the club’s progress and wish them well in the next steps of their careers. Following the celebrations, we immediately began preparing for life in League One – a level which not only presents a step-up in the quality of opposition but also significantly increased costs, with average financial losses in the division rising to £7.3m last season. When planning for a new season, we always aim to strike a balance between being ambitious and responsible. We want to be successful on the pitch – but only in a way that keeps the club’s losses under control, safeguards its long-term security and avoids exposure to tighter financial rules in the future. Therefore, as well as supporting Joe Palmer and his team’s excellent efforts in driving increased off-field revenues, we have to keep player-related costs at a sustainable level. We achieve this by using a data-led recruitment approach which identifies strong players who fit our footballing and financial strategy and who we believe can develop further with us, while also occasionally deciding to sell players when we believe it will help us improve the squad as a whole. This approach, which has been crucial to our past successes and the ongoing development of the club, has led to a busy summer transfer window with 12 new signings arriving at Meadow Lane. While there’s potential for further additions, we’re confident that we’ve built a squad capable of competing at League One level and will only act if the right deals present themselves. Nevertheless, we respect that we will be competing with several big clubs this season – and it’s therefore important that we all - fans, staff and players - continue to stick together and relish the challenges that lie ahead on the next stage of our journey. In closing, we would like to reaffirm our long-term commitment to driving the club’s continued progress up the pyramid. We have total belief that our processes, which are being refined and improved every season, can support further growth and success in the years ahead. We hope you thoroughly enjoy tomorrow’s occasion and all the excitement that follows. COYP! Chris and Alex

Match Discussion: League One - Leicester City (A)
I’d be delighted if we won or even drew, I’m expecting us to lose, hopefully not by a huge margin, I think goals will be a problem for us but we’ll probably be tight at the back so I reckon a 1-0 loss but an encouraging performance.

Weekly Chat Monday 10th to Sunday 16th August
Morning all, that was a sticky night. 🥵 I saw the eye consultant yesterday who did a thorough examination and washed out my tear ducts with a huge needle after assuring me it was blunt. Phew! The fluid ended up in the back of my throat. I’ve got two lots of eye drops and an appointment in two months to assess if surgery is needed which he thinks will be necessary. It’s only minor surgery though to tighten the skin around my eyes.

Where will we finish on 26/27?
I’ve voted relegation scrap but surviving, I hope I’m wrong about relegation scrap but right about surviving. I don’t think anyone expects us to be pushing for promotion but you never know stranger things have happened.

What kind of beer you prefer
I remember when I first started drinking with my mate as 17 year olds, our favourite haunt was The Salutation on Maid Marian Way, there was a seat at the bottom of some stairs and we used to enjoy watching the girls walk up the stairs in their mini skirts. 😂Nuff said. We used to drink cider as it was quite sweet, Bulmers I think, one day they didn’t have cider so when I ordered and the bar maid said it was off I was flummoxed and just pointed at a pump and said “two pints of that” I had no idea what it was it turned out to be bitter, we enjoyed it so we carried on drinking it after that.

Weekly Chat Monday 10th to Sunday 16th August
Good morning, another day in paradise. The car passed its MoT hurray, BUT they recommend as its 6 years old the timing belt needs replacing which is around £1,000, 😮 Apparently it’s a “wet” belt which means it travels through the oil sump and changing it is labour intensive. Then we had a quote for burglar alarm come through for £600, this month is going to be expensive.

Where are they now : Anthony Patterson
He’s a good goalkeeper, I’m sure he’ll do well at Wrexham.
