Game 15 - The Rovers (A)

Team: Doncaster Rovers

Date: 09/11/2024

Where: Keepmoat Stadium

What line-up should Stuart Maynard opt for? What will be the key areas for the Magpies to get a victory? What do you think the final score will be?

Have your say below, join in with the Pride of Nottingham match discussion.

Will the Notts  Unbeaten Away Record continue at Donny? You Know I Think it Just Might. Then again the record will  End Eventually and Rovers could be the team to Do It. A Hard Fought Game which could go either way,  and the Odd Goal may separate the sides at the Match's End  But I'm going to Plump for a 1-1 Draw

The game against Donny is definitely going to be Notts's biggest challenge of the season so far.

However, I do have much more confidence in Notts to get a result in these type of matches nowadays.

Much will depend on whether some of the injured players will become available again, players like Didzy, Dan & Scott Robertson.

Even if they are not in the team, I'm sure Notts will still give a good  account of themselves.

Until we know a little more about the fitness of those players, I will hold back from naming my team for the match.

Listened to Stuart's pre Donny conference today, & he talked a lot about Jevani & Alassana, but not a lot about the game with Donny. He acknowledged that the match would be tough.

Unfortunately, he didn't discuss about the current injury list, & who will be available this Saturday, out of those who are recovering from injury.

Stuart is playing his cards close to his chest regarding who's available & I can understand that, but if 8 players remain unavailable, that will make it tough for Notts on Saturday.

In their last home league game they lost 1-0 to Bromley and Crewe went there and got a 1-1 draw recently too so it's not like Doncaster have amazing home form.

I do think at times playing away helps us because teams aren't just going to sit back, so we'll definitely have chances. That said if a team actually presses us aggressively we could really struggle like we did in the first half away at Barrow.

Think Brown deserves to start, but I'm not sure he will. It would be daft to play AJ, Brown and Didzy from the off because then we can't really change the forwards. If Crowley and Austin are fit I think one of them will play behind Jatta with Didzy as he was rested against Alfreton. We're a bit short of options at wing-back, got to be Tsaroulla and Gordon here with our usual back three and keeper.

We'll have a great turnout and we I think we are more then capable of beating them, even though they are a good side too. I think a draw would be a decent result.

Last season they were poor, and they've not really signed many players, but they should be more of a threat with Billy Sharp involved. They have several loan players who make things interesting. Teddy Sharman-Lowe is a good keeper; he is gaining further EFL experience with Doncaster having been loaned out by Chelsea previously to smaller teams. He's of good height, and ability.

He should be a big improvement over Ian Lawlor, who didn't have his best game against us last time round where we beat them 3-1.

I thought Doncaster was actually lucky to score, they were just a team that looked out of sorts and very beatable. Much of their defence is still the same, which was their biggest weakness, but I do think they will be a lot tighter this time round.

Whilst I don't expect them to be much of a passing side at the back, I think we should get chances and the game will come down to who takes them. 2-1 (us), 1-1 seems much more likely.

A field where dreams become reality.

We do not know that state of play regarding injuries, but this would be my team if some players become available.

Bass

Macari, Platt, Bedeau

Tsaroulla,Palmer,Abbott,Gordon

Crowley, McGoldrick, Jatta.

Subs, Mcdonald, Hinchy, Robertson, Martin, Brown, Austin, Slocombe.

I think that starting 11 is the strongest considering the injuries we have.

I think it may be a draw today. Possibly 1:1. A clean sheet would be even better.

Full time.

A great point for Notts.

The draw confirms Notts County are the ONLY club in the EFL who remain unbeaten away from home...

Port Vale lost & Walsall drew today so Notts remain in the mix.

I think the first half performance today was arguably the best under Stuart Maynard. The goal was a team goal of a very high class at this level.

What is so different about this side this season is the defence, I've said it before & I'll say it again, if a team has a brilliant defence & a good goalkeeper between the sticks, they have every chance of success.

Notts were under a lot of pressure in the second half but apart from the goal, they remained solid.

Another game ticked off and we are closer to the new year when hopefully, Grant, Edwards, & Jones will be back to strengthen the squad.
