Posted November 25, 2024Nov 25 #1 Good morning, it’s a chilly 8 degrees and dark, I’m not sure what the weather is doing yet I haven’t looked out. Well it’s 4 weeks until Christmas have you done any shopping yet? We got some bits while we were away for family but still need to get some more stuff, I’m sure it’ll all come together before the day. This week we need to get the carpet up in the loft bedroom ready for a new one coming this time next week, our son and family will be sleeping here over Christmas so we want it all done for then. Don’t forget to come on here and tell us your news, grumbles etc. Have a lovely Monday everyone.
November 25, 2024Nov 25 #2 Well I'm pleased to report that my taste buds are slowly returning to normal.I made myself a diluted orange drink on Sunday and it actually tasted of orange and not some awful , strange brew..Encouraged by this I made myself a cup of coffee and it actually tasted like a lovely cup of coffee..I never thought I would get so excited by the fact that food and drink tasted as it should. Some foods still taste a bit strange but normality is very slowly coming back.I'm beginning to feel less tired too and my cough at last easing..I'm pleased the temperature has returned to more like it should be.Roll on summer.
November 25, 2024Nov 25 Author #3 @super_ram that’s great news, now you’ll be able to taste your turkey and Christmas pudding.
November 25, 2024Nov 25 Author #4 How are things with you today @Robbie have you managed to get out in the garden? I wish I had green fingers but my back doesn’t allow me to do much digging, bending etc. sadly.
November 25, 2024Nov 25 #5 Good afternoon all. A little late but been busy today, Some food shopping done this morning running errand for the Mrs. We have a food delivery too tomorrow. Both been out in the garden this afternoon planting bulbs for the spring. And yes, @Fan of Big Tone bending ones back at our ages brings on the creaky noises, the pain and discomfort. I prepared the pots, the wife does the planting. Picked up a load of leaves too. It's nice to have some colour during the spring Our old daffs had to be removed because they grew this past spring but didn't flower. They were about ten years old though. Now it's time to catch up on PON with a nice cappuccino.
November 25, 2024Nov 25 #6 It's been a nice day, cold but better than the weekend. No rain, just the breeze and chill. I'm glad to be back home, catching up on Notts right now. ???? Glad you're feeling better, @super_ram.
November 25, 2024Nov 25 #7 i got off work at 5pm on the dot today, it has been much nicer out. works in full swing now, so no quiet days and this wont change until late feb at the very least. i want to find time to go christmas shopping, but i have purchased tickets for the peterborough cup game.

November 27, 2024Nov 27 Author #9 Good morning all, @Piethagoram you certainly get about don’t you? Enjoy your trip is it business or pleasure? Well yesterday I had a shingles jab at the local surgery, I hate needles but after reading about Bob Mortimer having shingles it sounded awful so decided to take the plunge, no after effects at all and the nurse was very gentle. I need another one in six months then covered for life. It’s a wet start here, I’ve got lots to do so I’d better get cracking, laters.
November 27, 2024Nov 27 #10 It's a gray & rainy day here, overcast and cold. The mild air didn't last long did it. We were late up last night so a slow start this morning. Just checked out Blue Sky, I agree with you @Fan of Big Tone it's a growing community. Hope we can get a few over here on PON. Wife has prepared our thanksgiving dinner. It's just like having a Xmas dinner twice over. We would normally celebrate thanksgiving on the day, which is tomorrow in the United States, but the wife wanted it today. No Turkey this year just a chicken dinner instead.

That’s interesting @Robbie is there a particular reason you celebrate thanksgiving? I’ve never heard anyone celebrating it over here.

November 27, 2024Nov 27 #14 @Fan of Big Tone I think I've had to much Pumpkin Pie this afternoon. It's a great way of using a spare Pumpkin.
November 27, 2024Nov 27 Author #15 @Robbie pumpkin pie is something I’ve never tried, I’ll have to give it a go sometime,
November 27, 2024Nov 27 #16 Here's a good recipe for Pumpkin Pie . We used a pumpkin filling without the seeds. We put in evaporated milk instead of the cream. You can use butternut squash for the pie filling rather than Pumpkin filling. Depends how rich you want it. November 28, 2024Nov 28 Author #17 Thanks for that @Robbie, I’ll get Mrs. T on it. Good morning everyone, it’s been a cold night with a frost the temperature dropped to -1 overnight. A busy day for us, it’s our support group meeting so we’ve got a lot of preparation to do before tonight but hopefully we’ll get a walk when the weather warms up. Keep warm folks.
November 28, 2024Nov 28 #18 When I woke up today, I almost forgot I had a cast on. Surprisingly, this hasn't happened often. But once you're up and moving, you quickly remember. My days are quite uneventful, so I decided to visit the local shops for a change of scenery and to keep walking. With the colder weather, I don't want to be stuck inside. I prefer staying active. I'm making good progress and look forward to the day I can walk without the cast.
November 28, 2024Nov 28 #19 Good Morning. It a pleasant cloudless sky with late autumn sunshine. Very cold out though. Nothing much doing today apart from my usual walk. Have just been doing a mile a day for the last several weeks, due to feeling a bit under the weather.

November 28, 2024Nov 28 #21 Today, Kate's been out with her mum and Ellie to The Range. Unfortunately, when they got back they were told that her sister-in-law had broken her foot and that Kate's mum would need to fetch their kids. It doesn't sound very nice, but other than that and a few deliveries nothing much has happened. In other news, replacement parts for @super_ram's folding bed has arrived, and I am very keen to try to sort that. Just need to figure out where to get Goose Grease from.
November 28, 2024Nov 28 #22 i woke up with a headache which has only gotten worse as the day has gone on, so now that i am approaching the end of my shift. i think i am going to have a kip and rest up a little. i dont want to work another day with a ponding head like this. i hope all the members of pon who reads this are feeling well, especially @super_ram and 2 holidays a month @Fan of Big Tone.

Don’t wish for retirement unless you manage to retire early, retiring in old age is great if you have your health but as you get older you start getting things going wrong that stops you doing the things you wanted to do. That’s why we take as many holidays that we can afford before we get past it. Enjoy your youth you’ll be old before you know it.
