Game 23 - The Robins (A)

Team: Cheltenham Town

Date: 29/12/2024

Where: Whaddon Road

What line-up should Stuart Maynard opt for? What will be the key areas for the Magpies to get a victory? What do you think the final score will be?

If I were Stuart Maynard I would play an unchanged side against Cheltenham.

My motto is to always pick a winning team. I know that the matches are coming thick and fast but I know Stuart will manage it as best as he can.

I think that it is so important for Notts to keep the winning run going if they can.

Cheltenham won't be a pushover & Notts will need to be at their very best once again.

Given our recent form we should win this match but of course it’s Notts County we are talking about so who knows?

Lets hope complacency doesn’t set in, as regards the team, I’ll leave that to Maynard who has seen them train and knows what niggles they have etc., I trust him to pick the best available team.

I think given the short turn around in games it would make sense to make a few changes, we play Walsall in three days time and then Swindon on the Saturday – it’s madness really, I don’t know why they suddenly cram so many games in.

I’m hopeful we are back on track now, but this won’t be an easy game. Cheltenham have only lost once at home and are in pretty good form at the minute. They drew with Port Vale and Gillingham, then on Boxing Day beat Crewe – so they’ve out performed us against those teams!

In terms of the changes, maybe just a few; Gordon, Ness and Brown in for Austin, Macari and McGoldrick? I’d even be tempted to play Hinchy but I think Abbott can manage. I’m hopeful we might even have Robertson back on the bench for this one as it’s all gone quiet in terms of his injury issues. And if Scott isn’t in the squad something isn’t quite right…

I can understand the reason for wanting changes today, but I would be more inclined to make the changes against Walsall on new years day, when we meet them at ML.

I think it's important for Notts to try to get a positive result by fielding their strongest side against Cheltenham.

Cheltenham will be a big test today. They can't be underestimated.

The Football God’s are like; “you can have Jodi and Grant back but we’ll take Macari and Ness in return…” ????????‍????

What a day for Josh Martin he went from thinking he was a sub, to starting and then scoring!

After a mistake from Bass at the start it’s sounded pretty much like we’re dominating here. Very impressive so far, not going to lie though I am a touch worried about how the second half could go with only 2 natural defenders on the pitch!
