Footprints in the snow

We had some unusual footprints on our path this morning, it took us a while to work out what they were. Without googling can you guess?

Tried to look on Google.

The foot prints appear not to be  made by,

A small Deer.

A Hare.

A Rabbit.

A Fox.

A Cat.

Or a Badger.

The mystery deepens.

It certainly looks strange because the pattern changes further up the path.

It’s a weird one but it’s a fairly common animal. Keep guessing, it took us a while to work it out.

Squirrel with big feet?

I was going to suggest that. Would have to be a big one.

It looks big in the photo, I should have put something at the side of the print for a size comparison.
