Absolutely chuffed with that win today. Notts were absolutely dominating in the first half & deserved a bigger lead at half time.

Notts had to defend much more in the second half but held on for the win.

As far as I'm concerned a win is a win & ,three points gained. Notts now on 50 points & in second place albeit temporarily depending on later results.

League table.

Much better performance, no way did Gillingham deserve anything and it was a well defended win in the end. If we’d have gone 3-0 up that would’ve completely killed that game off and we should’ve maybe gone for it a bit more despite being in total control throughout. Probably got lured into to being too casual at the end given how Gillingham were offering so little, but we saw it out well and didn’t drop too deep. The back three defended excellently on the whole, barely lost a duel.

We were just was so much better on the ball this game and our movement off it was noticeably better too. I think you realise you get so much more when Palmer plays, he doesn’t always do stuff that is noticeable but his ability to just keep the ball moving and positional play to always be in the correct position is superb.

I like what I saw from Whitaker too on his first start, maybe not as influential as we’d like on the ball but he hassled them, pressed well and made some intelligent runs forward and in behind to create space. Lovely little turn and spin midway through the second half where he gets away from a player whilst being pulled back. He was on a yellow, but because he didn’t actually stop him wasn’t a foul? Is shirt pulling only punished if it stops the play now?

Which brings us onto the ref, don’t usually comment but he was poor. Stopped the match for every little bit of contact, 95% of them weren’t fouls just players going down, both us and Gillingham did it but you can’t blame the players if they know they’ll get a free-kick every time they feel the slightest bit of contact. And Jodi got a bit of kicking too, very little protection again. It was the right decision to bring him off, as much as he probably didn’t need too they were so frustrated you could see someone doing something nasty.

i think when notts enjoy playing and have that belief they can be quite unstoppable, you can see the difference in the likes of david mcgoldrick and nick tsaroulla really deserved his goal. i thought notts did everything well, i am not bothered about conceding the goal. it might have annoyed some fans at the game, i did notice some miserable reactions but you have to take the points and move on.

also, great to see matt palmer back in the team even if he had to wear the facial guard.

We started the match on a high note, completely dominating the first half with sharp play and excellent ball control. Nick Tsaroulla scored a fantastic goal, and David McGoldrick’s clinical finish highlighted his value to our team. Palmer and Whitaker also had great chemistry, linking up effectively in the attack.

The second half proved to be more challenging as Gillingham pushed back, making it a real battle. However, our defence held strong, and despite a late goal making things tense, the lads kept their composure. Bass made some crucial saves, and we had opportunities to secure the win earlier. Nevertheless, securing three points away from home is a huge achievement.

Notts are on fire at the moment, keeping us firmly in the running for the automatic spots. Interesting to see there had been comments about scoring twice in the first half, which happened, but unfortunately, a third goal didn't come. Let's not be disheartened by not keeping another clean sheet. Three points on the road, especially against a team like Gillingham, have to be respected. They might be struggling, but we know they can be a tough game. So, I am delighted for Nick Tsaroulla and David McGoldrick. Didzy's goal was pure cheek!

The momentum we are in right now, will be extremely crucial when it comes to the end of the season. Victories like this, even if we did concede late on, shows why we are in the mist of promotion and nicely positioned within the automatic places. Keeping our feet firmly on the ground, focus on each game as they come is the right way for us to approach game.

Notts performed exceptionally well in the first half, it was a good start and the two goals shows how focused we are when we break with that focus. Quite a few goals for us tend to come within spells of each other.

It's a good result, Gillingham will have had their plans and for us to start so brightly is a huge positive.

David McGoldrick's goal is a class effort, just the way he took the shot and made it look so effortless. There were no signs he was going to lob the keeper, but he does it very gracefully. It's an excellent outcome on the road. We need to continue to add to the morale the players have right now, with returning players etc, it could add more fire.

I think the interviewer after the game who spoke to Stuart Maynard got it right. The timing of our form couldn’t have been better, and the start was really exciting to see. That bright response at the beginning might not always be repeated, but it’s something Notts needs to do more often.

Things are coming together, and the goals shook Gillingham. They had no response until it was too late. I wish them well, but I’m happy for the three points.

Any win on the road is a good outcome for me. Notts played exceptionally well in the first half. There were some brilliant pieces of play, and it's unlucky that some of those chances didn't pay off. The through ball to David McGoldrick for his piece of magic was perfect. Not only was it a display of his clinical nature, but the ball was played to perfection.

Notts are growing with confidence, even when the performances, like the previous Tuesday, weren't the best. The squad is pulling together right now. Credit to Stuart Maynard for the current form. If he gets blamed when things go wrong, it's only fair he gets credit when they go right.
