@super_ram what are your feelings, who do you want to replace Warne?

  • Robbie changed the title to Head Coach Paul Warne Sacked by Derby County.

In his first full season in charge Paul guided Derby to promotion from league one.

He's regarded as a good Head Coach so I don't expect him to be out of a job for too long.

But a run of seven consecutive league defeats was always going to put Paul under pressure.

Football owners demand success so Derby being third from the bottom with sixteen games left forced owner David Clowes to act.

Could this herald a possible emotional return to Derby for Wayne Rooney or even a return to football management for Neil Warnock to save Derby?

I'm annoyed and frustrated @Fan of Big Tone I do understand the importance of my team not being relegated but I do not see what else Paul Warne could have done in the circumstances.Derby have suffered a horrendous run of long and shorter term injuries. We already had a threadbare squad and are still under EFL restrictions. Some fans criticised Paul Warne for not playing academy lads .That's the Academy that was decimated when under administration.Another criticism is that players have been played out of position but what choice did he have when their were no other players available..Paul Warne and his staff have even been blamed for the injuries citing over training as a reason. It's  not so long ago that Notts had a bit of an injury crisis and some fans were calling for Stuart Maynard to be replaced..I know ,Notts were much higher up their league than Derby are at the moment but I expected Paul Warne to be given at least one more game.

Regarding the next manager, choose anybody off the managerial roundabout.Whoever it is I wish him luck and I wonder how long it will be before the know it all boo boys get on his back..

Looks  like former Forest Head Coach Steve Cooper may be one of the bookies favourites take the Derby job.

He's certainly got the credentials at Championship level.

Will the Derby fans take to a former Forest manager?

@Fan of Big Tone

I remember Peter Taylor going back to Derby after he left Forest & had a spell at Brighton. I remember Taylor's Derby beating Forest at the Baseball Ground. Taylor did enjoy that win.

They had better not think about making a move for our Stuart. He's one of our own.

You’ve got me baffled @super_ram you’ll have to give us another clue, unless @Robbie has any idea.

I don't think he'll get the job @Fan of Big Tone but I think he would be a perfect fit and David Clowes wouldn't have to look far.

Not exactly @Fan of Big Tone and I don't expect him to be appointed but as I said David Clowes wouldn't have to look far. I can't make it much clearer than that.

Took you long enough @Fan of Big Tone lol.I don't think he will get the job and I'm completely underwhelmed with the candidates being touted.Whoever gets the job should have a more or less fully fit squad and also the transfer window newcomers ,which is more than Paul Warne had.

When you said the chairman won’t have far to look I was checking managers from all the local clubs, Chesterfield, Burton, Matlock etc. I never thought of from within the club.:biggrin:
