Game 34 - The Fishermen (A)

Team: Fleetwood Town

Date: 01/03/2025

Where: Highbury Stadium

What line-up should Stuart Maynard opt for? What will be the key areas for the Magpies to get a victory? What do you think the final score will be?

Have your say below, join in with the Pride of Nottingham match discussion.

.

This is my line up,  not heard if Jones or McGoldrick are available.

I prefer McDonald at the back over Johnson myself from current defensive options.

Not sure whether Gordon should start over Jarvis, Gordon gets some good crosses in but Jarvis has shown some potential and perhaps needs to build confidence.

I think we will perform better than the last few games, we have to and the team are aware of this to. I think 2 -0 to Notts!Screenshot_20250226-122307.jpg

I’ll leave the line up to Maynard and his staff he’s far better  qualified than me but I would like to see Didzy and Jodie play a part if they are fit. I’m also excited to see Traore given more game time when the manager thinks he’s ready.

I agree with this line up but I'm not sure whether McDonald will be fit. It may be worth Maynard putting Abbott or Hinchy in the back three for this game. Abbott has played in the back three before & he's talented enough to do a job there.

I agree that Tsaroulla & Traore should be in the first 11. The extra room they will have at an away match will suit them & make them dangerous to Fleetwood.

It's important that Notts win this match if they can. Bradford & Doncaster care finding some form so Notts don't want any gaps to appear between themselves & these two teams.

Please, let's not throw Jodi Jones back in if he becomes available. Even as a sub, I would afford him a little more time because we have some important fixtures, and I would be tempted, if I were Stuart Maynard, to focus on the games where we can afford to protect him a little more. I think Nick Tsaroulla would benefit from starting more games; his partnership with Kellan Gordon is something I feel we could benefit more from; both players do much better when they are more involved, without being dropped.

I would also encourage more faith from the start with Mai Traore so he can get up to pace naturally; if he struggles or makes mistakes, so be it. We just need to make sure, from a defensive point of view, we can mop up any trouble if this were to happen.

David McGoldrick returning would be a blessing, but just like Jodi I think we could afford him to be on the bench at least against Fleetwood.

Charlie Whitaker seems to be thriving and getting heavily involved in games, which we should encourage, and give him more starting time. So, I would hope he is among the first players named on the team sheet.

Good analysis and team selection  @Pies79

I am not at the game today and cannot get the radio coverage, but I am checking the score periodically via Google. George Abbott has been a massive signing for us this season, such a talented player, and I eagerly await seeing his goal. Fingers crossed Notts can get another goal, just to put the game to rest. Pleased with the score so far, hope those in attendance are nice and warm.

The same old story. Could have been 2 or 3 at half time. Fleetwood improved. Notts didn't respond. Conceded 2 goals. Showed character to salvage a point. The 90 minute performance is badly missed.....

Notts started very well as they have done in many matches this season. Notts created many chances in that first half & should have gone to the interval with more goals than the single one they scored

As we have seen in a few matches this season, it was a tale of two halves for Notts. They were brilliant in the first half but faltered somewhat after the interval.

Notts conceded two quick goals after missing many chances of their own, it was a familiar story. Stuart made some substitutions & Notts fought back to earn a draw.

Notts will be frustrated that they didn't take advantage of their dominance in that first half. It was nice to see Macari & Jones coming on after around 70 minutes & hopefully those two players will have a part to play in a tough March that might define Notts's season.
