Posted March 12Mar 12 #1 Game 37 - The Spireites (H) Team: Chesterfield Date: 15/03/2025 Where: Meadow Lane What line-up should Stuart Maynard opt for? What will be the key areas for the Magpies to get a victory? What do you think the final score will be? Have your say below, join in with the Pride of Nottingham match discussion.
March 12Mar 12 #3 This will be a massive game in front of a bumper crowd both teams should be full of confidence, Chesterfield won 4-0 away last time out and will be cheered on by a no doubt vociferous following in the Sirrel stand, it’s the one match they really look forward to, I used to work in Chesterfield amongst Spireite fans and they'd talk of nothing else for weeks beforehand. If Notts play like we know they can we should be able to beat them. 🤞
March 13Mar 13 #4 Can't make up my mind about Saturday....who will be in goal?????if it's SS .....nothing will obliterate my memories of SS playing against Chesterfield at Wembley!!!!really hope Bass as made a miraculous recovery....
March 13Mar 13 #5 Another massive game for Notts on Saturday.. Notts were boosted by the return to fitness of David McGoldrick with his well taken goal. I think that Stuart will remain cautious & David will remain on the bench against the Spireites. Doubts about Bass & McDonald's fitness remain so my team will reflect that My team against Chesterfield will be an unchanged side from the one that faced Grimsby after Bass's replacement. Slocombe, Macari, Platt, Bedeau, Gordon, Abbott, Palmer, Tsaroulla, Whittaker, Grant, Jatta. Edwards, Jarvis, Hinchy, Johnson, McGoldrick, Cisse I've put just six substitutes for now until we hear from Stuart in his pre Chesterfield presser. So I have Didzy coming on after 60 minutes or earlier depending on the state of play.
March 13Mar 13 #6 @Robbie I again, pretty much agree with what you have said, but I'd fit enough still prefer to go with McDonald over Macari. What about starting with McGoldrick and trying to get ahead early and get the job done and then bring him off? And hopefully not end up chasing the game.
March 13Mar 13 #7 @Pies79 I do agree that McDonald brings something to the back line. Stuart went to a back four in the second half against Grimsby. If McDonald is fit, he plays. Of course Didzy should play from the start of he's fully fit. I just think that he is too valuable to risk just coming back from injury. Not sure if Stuart will put our young B Team goalie (Perrot) on the bench if Bass is not fit.
March 14Mar 14 #8 @gtownjohnno Just listened to Stuart's pre Chesterfield presser & he's confirmed that Alex Bass won't be fit for Saturday. Sam will be in goal & an academy goalkeeper will be on the bench for the match. McDonald was not mentioned so I wouldn't be surprised if he's on the bench too.
March 15Mar 15 #19 Update. Update Update Half time. Mark Stallard: "As 0-0's go, that's been absolutely breath-taking. Notts firmly the better team"
