I was surprised that there is no automatic promotion for tier 5 Scottish non league clubs into League 2, tier 4 of the Scottish league system.

The champions of the East, West, & South of Scotland Leagues play in a playoff to determine one team that gets a chance to promote to the Lowland League

The Lowland League champion then plays in a playoff with the Highland League champion, with the winner of that playoff playing the bottom club of the SPFL League Two for a place in the SPFL.
