Wednesday at 18:021 day Author #2 I belong to the old school of thought. A Head Coach should have plenty of input when it comes to recruitment. A good Head Coach will have a good idea what kind of player that he wants to build a successful squad. A Head Coach at Notts will be aware of what the owners want regarding the playing style & the Head Coach should know lots of players around the Country & I think that it is vital for the Head Coach to be involved in recruitment discussions. For all said & done the Head Coach picks the starting 11 & 7 substitutes for every match. We have already seen that the last Notts Head Coach didn't play players that for ever reason he thought weren't up to it. It is vital that every player in the squad, if fit, should have a part to play. Modern football is a squad game, & the Head Coach should be able to call on any one of his players to do a job for him when they are called upon.
