If they are closing it down to repaint it, I hope they look at some of the areas of the bridge that need repairing. The last time I walked across it, there were parts where you could see the river through parts of the floor that had decayed. Otherwise, I'm not sure painting it alone is justification enough to close it. It really does need some care, but if our council thinks a lick of paint will do, it. It really needs work. The bridge looks very dated and is one of the ugliest I see often. Notts has some nice bridges, and with a bit of care, Lady Bay Bridge could look like it’s back in its prime.

I hope they can make it look as good as it should. Once cleaned and repainted, the bridge would be a million times nicer to look at.

The bridge is showing its age. It needs much more than a fresh coat of paint, but it’s a landmark worth restoring properly. It’s an important route for drivers, and it deserves real investment.
