Trouble at Morecambe FC again

  • Robbie changed the title to Trouble at Morecambe FC again

Will Tyson Fury try to buy them again? They have a good ground, decent facilities, and there is a lot of potential with a club like Morecambe. I hope they manage to find a buyer who can save them from any financial troubles.

When I went to Morecambe last season, their ground and facilities impressed me. It's a shame that they are going through so much financial difficulties; hopefully, they find a way to move forward, but I fear without heavy restructuring now, it might lessen the interest from potential buyers. I do hope they manage to find a solution.

Sadly it's all sounding rather ominous for them. Their owner has had amble time to sell, clearly for whatever reason he now doesn't want to but then not continuing to support the club isn't on. I'd say the EFL need to step in here but they are technically in the National League now... Probably makes it even worse because the NL Board was pretty amateurish.

Their owner has finally released a statement but instead of saying how he's working hard to complete a sale he's trying to remove the board of directors... 😯

Didn't realise until I was reading another article that owner of Morecambe was one of the owners of Worcester Warriors, who also went bust with him at the helm. I hate to say it but they look doomed.

The MP for Morecambe spoke in parliament and called out the club’s owners, saying that something needs to be done. It makes me wonder if they spent too much trying to reach the Championship while they were in League One.

I don’t blame Morecambe for having big hopes, but it might explain why they’re in such a bad place now. I really hope they can come through this and end up stronger.

Even if the worst does happen, a fresh start might help them rebuild. I don’t think they’ll stay down for long, but it would be better if they didn’t have to go through that. Their fans deserve better.

@Robbie, I really hope the sale goes ahead without any problems. If Panjab Warriors Sports take over, they might be able to steady things and get the club back on track.

It’s a worrying situation, and it would be awful if the club folded. Still, the phoenix option gives some hope if it ever gets to that point.

I’m not fully convinced the sale will go as smoothly as the recent news suggests. These same buyers have shown interest before, so I wouldn’t be shocked if things drag on a bit. Still, I really hope it goes through.

Wishing Morecambe the best. Fingers crossed they get the sale sorted and nothing gets in the way of the club’s future. It might be tough for them to climb back up, we know that struggle all too well, but a proper takeover could at least stop the slide.

There is no room for abuse in football, I wouldn't condone it, and I think some fans take matters too far.

Jason Whittingham could be pulling the classical 'I am the victim card', we had this from the past owners, and nothing ever seemed to come of the threats of taking action. That said, if he is being abused and it's not just fans being upset, if there's a real sense of danger, or threats, or unwarranted comments, then the police need to get involved. I don't think the statement serves much purpose.

It reads as very ill-advised.

In addition to reporting this to the police, they will be investigated even after the club is sold, no matter how long it takes. As we acquire their details, we will contact their place of work, education or associations as well as pursuing criminal charges.

I have always been told by my father, who is a legal professional, never to make threats back. You could easily class that "contacting their place of work." as a threat, and one which could come across as harassment in its own right. The only thing he should say is that the police will be investigating and that criminal charges will be explored, but some factors could fall within the civil court.

The comment about "they will be investigated even after the club is sold, no matter how long it takes." Sounds rather empty; the new owners might not wish to get involved.

I am not sure there's much merit in the comment about putting buyers off, football does unfortunately drive emotions, and surely any buyer would understand that emotions are high? Again, it depends on what is classified as abuse.

"involved in a club with a section of such toxic individuals.

These individuals serve only themselves not the best interests of the club."

This comes across as very personal, which makes me question the purpose of making such a statement. Please, someone teach whoever wrote this how to use commas.

@TheSkipper, Clubs should never resort to releasing personal statements of this nature. As you've mentioned, there are far more appropriate and professional channels to address such matters. This type of response only serves to draw unnecessary attention and detracts from the real issues at hand.

It appears the Morecambe owner is attempting to deflect responsibility for the ongoing delays in the sale of the club. From what has been made public, only one credible party has shown genuine interest, and there’s been no indication that they're deterred by anything thus far.

While I don’t doubt that he's received some form of abuse, it sadly comes with the territory in high-profile roles, the mention of his family being targeted seems questionable. It’s difficult to understand why or how they would become the focus of such hostility.

so is there a battle between the main owner and the board? it sounds like a soap drama and not a professional football club. the owner needs to put his hands up and move on with his life, i can never understand why people put themselves in this issue. we have seen it twice at notts where a owner says hes selling the club, only to hang onto it for dear life and it never does well. people end up not being paid, and that is ruining lifes because everyone has bills to pay.

the statement reads like an awful attempt to twist things and to scare people off, does the morecambe owner want to be like putin? a dictator??
