Good morning, it’s a cloudy start here and I noticed about six spots of rain on our bin so I don’t suppose that’ll fill the reservoirs. πŸ˜‚

It’s a bit cooler outside but still very warm inside so the fan was on in our bedroom last night.

What’s everyone up to? Anything exciting going on in your life?

Good morning one and all,

Today's weather here in the central belt of Nottinghamshire is lovely and sunny, with a light breeze and scattered clouds.

The itinerary for the day will be to enhance the good job completed yesterday in clearing, cleaning and re arranging our lovely Shed.

This shed of all sheds was like a tardis overflowing with items enough to refit the house over and over, never mind anywhere else.

To benefit will be certain charities and a run to the local tip for my sins.

Other than that the chores of the day will take place bit by bit until the appearance of my Princess as she returns from work.

Another day in Paradise πŸ˜‰

On holiday, so one of those days nursing a hangover, which when you're older you really can't be doing with ☹️

It took only 4 pints! What a lightweight. The muggy weather, and difficult sleeping make it worse. Still got a thick head and it's late into the afternoon. But I had a thick head yesterday, and will still have one tomorrow, next week, next year, so I shouldn't blame the drink.

@theAnticlough,where are you on holiday, anywhere nice? Well I guess it must be nice or you wouldn’t be there. joker

Or maybe just a holiday from work, either way enjoy. 😎

Yes Big Tone, more of a holiday from work. Scotland, including the Highlands, returning tomorrow.

The day we came up shows what a crazy country this can be. It was 34 degrees in London right up to the East Midlands, but averaged 14 degrees in Edinburgh that day. A 6 hour car journey took you to another world.

After that we had the bad weather in the Highlands and the heat in Edinburgh when we really needed that to be the other way around. Grrrrrr

I am glad it's much cooler today; it's been a bit unbearable to use my laptop due to it creating its own heat. Cheeky has adjusted my desk so that I can get my chair underneath it; I have a lot of issues with sitting down (I won't go into it, but it's back-related). Even making the slight change to remove what would have been an area my desk slided out on, housing my keyboard, I do find sitting closer and the ability to adjust more does make a big difference.

Typing on top of my desk and having less room on the desk itself is a little fidgety. This is because I am quite fussy, but at least I can't see many cables. πŸ˜‚

Heading to London for three days of interviews, so I’ll need to brush up on cricket and tennis. They’re not sports I’ve followed much, but it makes sense to understand the background of the people I’ll be talking to, it’ll help with the writing.

I’d rather not come across as clueless; they’re just not my cup of tea, but I’ll give it a proper go and try to make them engaging. Might be a bit quieter here until I’m back in Manchester, depending on how much prep I end up doing. Nice to see the daily chats still ticking along.

I love Scotland i

The scenery is so beautiful but it’s a bit of a lottery with the weather.

@Chris our son works from home three days a week, the travels to London for two days, he recently decided that sitting at a desk for long periods when at home is not good for him so he bought a desk that you can stand up at.

When I worked in a newspaper office we were supposed to get up and walk round every half hour or so but in practice it didn’t really happen otherwise we’d never have got the papers out on time.

I have thought about that, but I think I would find standing just as challenging. I usually feel like a robot after standing at football games, though there's nothing stopping me from looking at a desk that is flexible between sitting and standing. My daughter has a special gaming/office chair that is very heavenly to sit on; you can adjust the back, and it moves with you. I sometimes joke about nicking it from her, as I have spent considerable time working on her Windows install and computer itself at times. So, I do think I should consider saving up for a new, similar chair.

The guidence at least was there, though I probably wouldn't get up either. 🫣

Backs feeling much happier since having a nice warm bath, the cold has the opposite effect to me. Not that with the water shortage, I would be wanting them as often as I would find use for. I appreciate your recommendation and comment.

Adjustable desks for standing and sitting are a godsend.

The key in RSI is R for Repetitive, and positions are as bad as actions for that - our bodies are designed for movement.

Hope you can sort out your issue Chris, and get back to normal.

Afternoon, all.

Nice to finally have a rainy day, isn’t it? Hopefully the sun comes back soon, but in a more natural way rather than those heatwaves we keep having. I’m off for an appointment about my leg, so I’ll be joining everyone else who’s waiting to be patched up.

Things are going well though. On the topic of moving, my girlfriend and I have decided to accept a friend’s offer to live with him. He’s been keen for a while now, and I hope he doesn’t regret it. We’re really grateful for the chance to find our own way without being stuck under our parents’ roofs.

I might have more news to share later on.

@TheSkipper, enjoy London, mate. You’ll smash those interviews!

Morning all. Pleased to say that the insect bite on my lower leg hasn't needed me to consult the Doctor this time.

It's been raining here since about midday. Ground is quite wet so that's good news. Really pleased with the flowers we bought that are growing very well. Plenty of colour.

We put lots of our flowers in pots which make for a nice feature on our patio.

With the first line of this thread being about the reservoir level and the last line in it, a patio; I can't resist asking any longer...

Anyone on here a fan of John Shuttleworth (the level of Lady Bay Reservoir and his patio featured on quite a few of his shows)?

If not, and if anyone wants to check it out try Youtube - The Shuttleworths One Foot in the Gravy S1E5
