Trouble brewing across the river?

Featured Replies

Not particularly bothered about what's not going on or going on across the river. My focus is on Notts playing well tomorrow & getting three points.

There are a lot of non Notts stories on here that I’m not interested in so I don’t comment on them, I put this in a non Notts section it may be of interest to others.

I don’t see the point of your post @Robbie if you aren’t interested just scroll by, others may be interested.

It was bound to happen sooner or later, I'm surprised he lasted this long given the volatility of their owner. Going public about their relationship indicates to me that he knows his number's up.

Lets Not Get Into Arguments About the Red Dogs. Though it does seem Strange That a Notts Fan is Posting Things about Forest, on a Website Site Dedicated to the Magpies. We all have our Opinions about what's going on at the Lane and Football in General and Each of Us should Respect Each Others Point of View. Without getting Snappy if those views differ from our Own.

With all due respect @Wheelbarrow repair man if you look at this section that I put this post into you will see that it is called English Football there are topics about different English clubs Morecambe for instance, this forum is primarily about Notts County but we talk about all things football. You are out of order, I have every right to post about Forest, I don’t support them but I thought the news was relevant. You often post things that are not related to Notts or football at all, this forum is very diverse we can talk about most things as long as it’s in the correct section.

As far as trouble over the river is concerned, I am sure the Forest owner will do what is best for his club. He has invested a lot of his own money & has turned the fortunes of his club around for the better.

Nuno has certainly done a good job for him, but Managers do come & go especially in the top leagues. We'll have to see what transpires, but I do think the press are making a lot of any possible disagreement over there.

As far as I'm concerned I don't wish the Forest any Ill will. Some of my distant relatives support the club & we try to discuss both our clubs with mutual respect when we all meet.

I also have friends that support Mansfield & we treat our discussions exactly the same. But my absolute main focus is on the Club that I've supported for so long & will continue to support through thick and thin.

I do hope that one day, hopefully in the near future, Notts can meet either one of them, whether it be league or Cup & we can beat them both once again. That would be something to brag about.

@Fan of Big Tone , you failed to Quote me in full. We all have Our Opinions on what is going on at the Lane and Football in General, is what I stated. Which means you have your Opinion and I have Mine, it was just in my opinion your attitude towards @Robbie in your answer to his comment was wrong.

@Wheelbarrow repair man i really don’t want to keep going back and forth over this. I felt that both you and Robbie have unfairly criticised me for posted about Nottingham Forest.

However I am now pleased to see that @Robbie has now put forward his views on my post (which I welcome) having first said he wasn’t interested in posts about Nottingham Forest. I am sure Robbie doesn’t need you to fight his corner, if he’d been offended by my post I’m sure he’d have said so, I was only suggesting if he wasn’t interested he could scroll by.

So @Wheelbarrow repair man what are your views on the saga across the Trent this after all is what the topic is about.

@Fan of Big Tone so what are your views on the subject at hand then?

It would be interesting to read your views on it seeing you posted the news of it. Enquiring minds would like to know.

Thanks @Robbie i think that Nuno is a very good manager but the owner is a bit of a meddler, I didn’t think for one minute that when he stormed onto the pitch last season to remonstrate with Nuno that it was about the injury I think it was about the result which he was unhappy with.

I don’t think the manager will stay after this latest upset and if I was a Forest fan (which I’m not) I’d be dismayed.

It’ll be interesting to see how it unfolds.

It would seem that a Good Coach could leave the City Ground, thanks to a Meddling Owner. Nuno was hired to do a job at Forest, and beyond a Shadow of a Doubt he did last season getting Forest into Europe for the First time in what 30 years? It would appear however the Owner's Ego as Got the Better of him. What the Greek needs to do is, in my opinion Shut Up and Let Nuno get on with the Job, and Bask in the Glory that Nuno is bringing to Forest.

I think the Forest owner might be quite difficult to work under; he seems to be a grown **s baby. The amount of clips I have seen of him looking angry at officials, storming onto the pitch and every other silly antic that he has done. It's like he thinks everyone has to answer to him and goes beyond being passionate; it looks like a mardy dictator not getting his own way.

Genuine Forest fans who have no issue with Notts, I have no ill feelings toward.

Those armchair, glory supporters are no better than some of the fans we have at Notts. The only difference is the colour of the shirts, but it does stem down to how well you can get on with the owner for them.

I don't wish trouble for Forest; I don't really care all that much about them, but still, it's interesting. I don't go out of my way to find content about them; I don't mind bantering about the club, but again, I wish them no harm. There will be one day when their current owner's expenditure neglect will fall on the club's shoulders, and I just hope it's not a huge debt. I can acknowledge he's done a lot, but I wouldn't feel secure about the future or what would happen if he decided to pull his investment.

He does seem like one of those people who will burn down what he has built out of spite and bitterness; this is my opinion, of course.

He's just signed a new contract too, so I suppose he will have a nice severance pay deal which will compensate him very well.

Sadly, success doesn't save a Manager/Head Coach from the sack. There is absolutely no loyalty in Football nowadays.

The guy got the club into Europe where they will earn millions, but the bigger picture will be the disruption to the players that could spoil all that progress.

The Manager they appoint will have to be pretty good to replace Nuno. I'm sure Nuno will be snapped up very quickly by another club.

I'm surprised Forest have doors big enough to fit Marinakis's ego. Edu seems to be in charge of player recruitment and is close to the owner. Once Nuno questioned the recruitment, the writing was on the wall because the owner was always going to side with Edu. Nuno had an excellent relationship with the players and fans, their reaction will be worth watching.

What a ridiculous state of affairs, what Nuno has done at Forest is truly unbelievable you have to wonder how this will affect the players, I don’t think the fans are too happy either.

Seems there was maybe a clash of personalities between Nuno & Edu Gaspar, Forest's Global Head of Football, who oversees all football related functions.

These responsibilities include recruitment, performance strategy, squad strategy, & player development, as part of the owner's broader ambition to build a global football platform.

This newly established position gives him the responsibility for shaping the club's soccer operations. So it looks to me that Nuno's responsibilities had been culled somewhat.

I wonder if Roberto Gagliardi's responsibilities at Notts are similar?

Interestingly some fans are suggesting that Nuno orchestrated his departure in order to get a big payout he signed a new contract in June then publicly criticised the owner in television interviews.

However other fans are gutted to see him leave and are blaming the owner. I do feel this could back fire on the owner especially if the new manager doesn’t hit the ground running with some good results.

It seems that Ange Postecoglou, who won the Europa League for Spurs is one of the favourites to take over from Nuno but it could easily be Jose Mourinho. Nuno to Jose. The difference between chalk and cheese.

I wonder how long he’ll last? The owner demands instant success, if they don’t win the Europa cup and finish as champions he’ll probably sack Ange. 🤣

Interesting that Nuno’s Forest beat Ange’s Spurs twice last season.

That's the Problem when your Owner has a Massive Ego and Fails to Keep it in Check. Big Ange has always said he wins something in his Second Season. Trouble is Will He Get That Long?

I don’t see why Notts fans wouldn’t talk about other clubs nearby. Forest and Mansfield are part of the same area, and the rivalry makes it more fun. It’s alright to share news about them if you want to. Just talk about what you feel okay with.

I don’t think they’ll finish higher than 8th again. It’s good when they do well and get into the Premier League because it helps the area. But every club has fans that get on your nerves, even ours sometimes.

I didn’t like that you stopped at ego, but yeah, double doors do exist.
