feels like we have been robbed, i could not see the penalty but the referee missed a lot of dirty play by crewe. loads of elbows, pushing and kicking out. i do think luker should have won a penalty, but mcdonald equally could have given one away. it felt like a draw, but notts played well enough. dont get disheartened and just go again.

Too right @liampie, another bitter defeat to jammy Crewe.

I think Dennis did something incredibly stupid in grabbing that shirt - better not come on if you give it away like that. But referee, shame on you,

the defender who was booked had a handful of Jodi's shirt in the first half. If one's a penalty, the other has to be. And we had other good penalty claims too. Cheated, again.

Jatta going 0 for 2 from 3 yards didn't help though.

not just jodi, they seemed to be trying it on with robbo. he was smashed from behind with a blatant elbow, he was hacked to the ground and got back to eon the ball, only to be pushed off it. later on, he was hit and kicked out at by the winger the gaffer mentioned. i am not being bitter, just feel they got away with so much but we had plenty of chances and that's a promising sign. our away form does need to improve, but games where teams play like crewe will be hard because they can play good football.

I know we are focusing on the way Crewe played against us, & yes, we probably should have had a penalty, & yes, Crewe played dirty against us, but we already know how teams are going to play against us,.

The point is, we should have buried this team out of sight before injury time came upon us. We had some gilt head chances that should have been put away

Notts have to put away the chances when they present themselves, & we are supposed to be much more physical under Paterson & deal with these physical teams like Crewe.

Why does it always seem to happen at Crewe!? We had the double whammy, a penalty and howler of a goal.

I thought we totally deserved at least a point from that, but sadly two individual errors cost us. It was a physical and fast-paced match and I thought overall we stood up to Crewe's aggression and snideness.

I agree with the comments about our potential penalties, I'd need to see the one on Luker back but Jones was clearly having his shirt pulled.

Alassana Jatta had several chances where he could have done better with his finishing. He was stretching at times, but you’d still expect more effort, especially with how he aimed his shots. I thought Tyrese Hall did well. He looked sharp and might have scored. Scott Robertson caused a few problems too, and Matt Palmer hit a brilliant shot that the Crewe keeper did well to save.

It feels like three points slipped away against a team that didn’t deserve more than one. Notts looked the stronger side but lacked that final touch in front of goal. The referee was very inconsistent with fouls. Some were given, others ignored, and it didn’t make much sense. Notts could have had two penalties, and Crewe might say the same. Giving one and not the others needs looking into.

I watched the match through the red button on Sky and thought Notts started well. It felt like one of those games where we would score early and then take control. Crewe had a few tidy moments, but I wasn’t worried until they scored from a corner. That goal seemed to unsettle us and change how we played.

Crewe had a good spell for about ten to fifteen minutes after their goal. During that time, we looked sloppy and struggled to get back into the rhythm of the game.

Once Notts found their footing again, they were clearly the better side over the full ninety minutes. Crewe were physical, with elbows flying, pushing and falling to the ground, but they did offer something going forward. They looked sharp on the counter, and Martin Paterson needs to find a way to help Notts stay solid by attacking more, rather than letting the pressure build through corners.

It was gutting to lose to a penalty, especially when we had two clear shouts ourselves that could have changed the outcome. James Golding and Jack Lankester were lucky to stay on the pitch. Golding should have been sent off after three separate offences. He elbowed Scott Robertson, shoved Jodi off the ball, kicked him on purpose, and pulled Alassana Jatta’s shirt so hard he couldn’t move. The referee saw it was a foul but didn’t show a card. Lankester also hit and kicked Robertson, then tried to make it look like Robertson was the one at fault. I hope Notts reports both incidents to the FA.

Positives:

Good performance away from home
Tyrese Hall is starting to settle in
Jodi looked back to his best
Nick Tsaroulla scored a brilliant goal
Notts played the better football overall

Negatives:

Gave away a soft penalty
Lacked sharpness in front of goal
Poor marking for Crewe’s first goal
Slow to respond after conceding early on

I didn’t see the game or hear the commentary because I was out but reading comments here and elsewhere it sounds as if Notts were unlucky so I don’t think we should be too downhearted, it’s football sometimes you just don’t get the rub of the green or the decisions go against you when another match they might go for you. Onwards and upwards (hopefully).

To lose in the way we did, it was a bit frustrating but easily overlooked when you put aside the feeling of 3 points being lost.

Notts did very well early on, and I felt like we were doing everything we could but open the deadlock up with a goal. Though, it felt like it was coming. As anticipated, Crewe showcased their strength in midfield and displayed an impressive performance. I didn't feel concerned because of how we were defending. That aerial threat discussed, it came to haunt us.

Crewe deserves credit for a very well-worked goal, but we need to handle these set pieces much better.

I also agree that we allowed Crewe to grow into the game immediately after, and it became somewhat scrappy. Thankfully, Notts resumed control and looked bright again, much to the credit of Jodi Jones.

When Nick Tsaroulla seized the ball and launched a powerful strike towards goal, you could see it was going in. Nothing against Tom Iorpenda but had he taken the chance, he would have had to work the ball to his right and most likely it wouldn't have been a threat. Whilst on the subject of Iorpenda, I thought he did some neat stuff, and it was good to see more from him defensively, but I am not sure if he always deserves the start.

I felt pleased to see Tyrese Hall in the starting line-up, and I felt he did very well with dealing with the lunges Crewe's defence threw at him, it wasn't just Hall, but many of our players had to content with very rash challenges which went nowhere near the ball and wasn't noticed by the officials.

The elbow on Scott Robertson, I felt should have been given a foul. It was dangerous, and left him with a red mark on his face for a long period of time. Robbo was certainly one of the players being targetted, and I feel the intension was to get him or Jodi sent off.

At 1-1, there were plenty of chances for Notts to win the game. I felt a bit disappointed with how little impact Alassana Jatta had on the chances which fell his way. As others have mentioned, it might seem harsh, but he's a striker and those types of balls are what poachers and goalscorers thrive on. Hitting one straight at the keeper, and other hitting the far left post just seemed a bit clumsy to me.

The effort Crewe blocked near the goal line was very well defended, and I hate to say, but there were signs of what I spoke about. Crewe's defence wasn't all that good, and their keeper, although he made some good saves most were routine, and he struggled when things did become a bit crazy in his box.

I am feeling more optimistic that things are starting to click, we just need to settle down a bit more and stay focused both in defence and in attack.

A field where dreams become reality.

Sorry to be a Debbie Downer but there is something really gut punching and disturbing about losing so ,so late in the game, just like we did against Barrow at 90+7mins.

If your team keeps losing when the chips are down in stoppage time, you can't help but think they're mentally weak, fragile and that it bodes ill for all the crucial times yet to come in the season. It's a cliche that winning teams often score in stoppage time, so what is the opposite of that? And not only the timing, crucial moments in the penalty area, we spurn sitters, the opposition regularly exploit panic to score.... I told you it was going to be a downer :)

I believe MP is trying his best to instill a toughness and to overcome the weakness left over from the Maynard days and a tendency for young, inexperienced players not to know how to win games. It'll take time to transform us into one of the teams meting out late defeats on teams rather than being on the wrong end of them.
