Notts travel to St James Park Brackley to meet the National League side in the FA Cup 1st Round on Saturday..

Can Notts have a good cup run this season. What are your thoughts on the match. Which players would be in your Notts side. What would be your final score?

Brackley Town are currently 17th in the National League Table having failed to win in 11 games out of a total of 15 played so far. They have lost 4 of their last 5 matches, so their form isn't great going into this match with Notts.

But as we all know, current form stands for nothing in a FA Cup match. Brackley will have the motivation to cause a Cup upset in front of the TV cameras. Notts will have to be on their guard & not underestimate Brackley.

Notts are due a decent Cup run & on paper Brackley is the ideal side where Notts can put in a decent performance & move closer to the 3rd Round & the hope of a money spinning lucrative tie against a big club.

But they need to get through this match first. I would choose a strong side with a mix of first team & squad players, with some first 11 players on the bench to come on later if needed.

So my side to meet Brackley would be :-

Griffiths, Macari, Ness, Aljofree, Kouhyar, Palmer, Norburn, Jarvis, Grant, Hall, Dennis,

Subs :- Roos, Bedeau, Robertson, Iorpenda, Tsaroula, Jones, Jatta. Bennetts, Cotter

(5 from 9 subs in Cup matches)

I'm hoping for a good performance from Notts. The starting 11 should be good enough to win comfortably, but having a strong bench is a good back up to have just in case. My score Brackley 0 Notts 3.

I hope Martin does play a strong side @gtownjohnno but I do have a feeling that he may play some of his bench players first thing with his best players on the bench just in case.

Of course I might be totally wrong, but we do seem to be in the age of resting players for Cup matches. There again, the Notts 2nd string should be good enough to win the game in the first half, all things being equal.

Update regarding Rod McDonald from Head Coach Martin Paterson. Rod has picked up a hamstring issue, so will be out for a few weeks.

Matty Platt is back in full training so he will be available very soon according to Martin.

I’m looking forward to watching this match on the box, on paper it should be an easy win for Notts but as we know football isn’t played on paper, we do need to treat Brockley with respect and not be complacent, as @Robbie says current form means nothing you can be sure they’ll be up for it.

We are due a good cup run, I hope MP chooses a strong side so we can get in the next round.

I think because we’ve got a Trophy match against Man Utd Academy on Tuesday and no league match until the following Monday (yes a horrible weekend without Notts awaits) we’ll see a strong side.

As Platt hasn’t played for weeks Ness is likely to start and I hope this finally a turning point for him in terms of staying fit. That said I feel like it can’t just be a coincidence that he’s injured all the time, unfortunately some footballers are just more susceptible to injuries. He really needs to get through a number of matches now, following on from his return last weekend.

I’d keep the midfield the same, maybe change one of the wingbacks or attacking midfielders but keep Jatta upfront, in the hope he’ll be able to bully their defence. Dennis coming on for the last 30 when they are tiring is perfect, he can run and that’s the last thing they’ll want.

Can't say I know much about Brackley, my guess would be they'll try and 'get at us' from the kick off but we've got enough quality to get control of this match. I know it's on the TV and these FA Cup outings usually end up as shockers for us but I'm quietly confident we'll have enough about us to get into the second round.
