Exeter City's financial challenges

Featured Replies

The running of a League club costs lots money. The amount of money required is increasing season by season.

Exeter have done very well to compete as a professional league club whilst being owned by it's supporters

Already questions are being asked of whether Exeter can survive in League One by being Trust-owned and whether the time has come to seek investment from elsewhere.

Trying to balance the finances by selling players for profit, & relying on revenue raised from Cup runs can be a risky business.

I think that it is inevitable that Exeter will probably need a large cash injection from an investor or a number of investors to survive as an EFL Club.

Whether the club can then continue with the Supporters Trust having a majority shareholding, will be another matter that will need to be considered if an independent benefactor comes in.

Proud to be a supporter for 58 years & counting of the oldest professional football club in the World. COYP
