Match Discussion: League Two - Grimsby Town (A)

What would your starting line-up be? What will be the key areas for the Magpies to get a victory? What do you think the final score will be?

.

Robbo back it if he's shaken off the flu or whatever it is. Apart from that unchanged I think.

MP tends to give winning teams another go, so JJ and co would have to wait in line.

They're at least 6 games without a league win. We might put in a classic away perfroamnce and come away 2 0r 3 goal winners.

The big matches in December come thick & fast for Notts, as they take a trip to Blundell Park to meet a Grimsby side who have faltered of late, failing to win in their last six league matches.

In contrast Notts have won four of their last six, with just one defeat. However, current form will count for nothing, & Grimsby will be keen to continue their fierce rivalry with Notts, & beat a Notts side in good form.

In recent matches Notts have shown lots of grit, determination & spirit to get over the line against Bristol Rovers & MK Dons. They will need to continue that trait against Grimsby.

Notts will still be without Skipper Matt Palmer & Scott Robertson in Midfield, so I expect Norburn & Iorpenda to continue to deputise in their places.

Tyrese Hall is still suspended, so I expect Matt Dennis to continue just behind Alassana Jatta upfront. My Notts starting 11 against Grimsby,

Roos, Macari, Platt, Bedeau, Tsaroulla, Norburn, Iorpenda, Bennetts, Grant, Dennis, Jatta.

Subs,

Griffiths, Ness, McDonald, Jones, Gordon, Traoré, Kouhyar, possibly Hinchy for Ness.

Hopefully, Notts can get another convincing win, but a draw would still be a good result. My score 1-1.

Agree about Dennis. He showed that he can play that inside-forward role very well. That’s a great bonus cos we know he’s a goal scorer. Him, Jatta, Grant, progressive wing-backs and the threat of Iorpenda arriving from deep is more than enough to threaten the haddocks tomorrow.

One thought looking ahead, Dennis and Hall have turned out to be pretty similar players - primarily smallish skillful strikers who can feature as AMs as well. I wonder if they’ll be competing for the same spot in the second half of the season. Or can we regularly play them both?

I expect MP to name an unchanged side barring any illness or injury we don’t know about. It’s another tough test for Notts but hopefully they will be full of confidence and togetherness enough to get a result. The away section is sold out so they’ll get plenty of support.

Notts team to play Grimsby.

Great to see Jack Hinchy on the bench. Great opportunity for him.

Good selection - again. Solid enough team and decent bench, given the circumstances, assuming Jones is fit and confident.

Good to see Hinchy back, always grafts and battles and he has a good eye for a pass. He’s one for the future, plenty of potential.

The Match is underway.

Great stuff - let’s have this Notts!

We are certainly establishing ourselves as “contenders” now. If we can overcome teams like MKD & the fishy people without Palmer, Robbo or a fully functioning Jones then we have made progress. Keep it going & keep ‘em out Notts.

FULL TIME.

Another great win for Notts.

Mark Stallard: 'That has been a typical Martin Paterson team performance. They've got quality in the team when they need it. They fight, they scrap and every player puts a shift in.'

What a turn around for Kelle Roos. Has to be Man of the Match.

I'm begining to love the way Notts keep getting these wins. Notts have a fearsome partnership upfront & they are matching each other goal for goal. What a great start to a tough December 6/6 points won.
