Macclesfield FC have beaten a Premier League Club (Crystal Palace), who were the FA Cup Holders 2-1. A team that was 117 places above them in the Football pyramid. It was the biggest FA Cup shock in history. The Magic of the FA Cup continues.

What an incredible performance it was too. Sometimes in cup games we're told that the lower team was the "better side", and it's often an exaggeration. It was absolutely not an exaggeration yesterday. In a way, Palace scoring their free kick and setting up a tense finish was good for the game as it was starting to feel like an anticlimax.

Macclesfield looked likelier to score for the majority of that match and deserved to go through. Well done them!

Fun fact: the last time the cup holders were knocked out by a non-league side was in 1909. The non-league team in question? Crystal Palace!

Absolutely brilliant result, all the palace players should be ashamed of themselves. But they probably won't be.

I'm so pleased that they have made their mark in history after having to start all over again as a phoenix club after Macclesfield Town were liquidated and expelled from the National League in 2020 because of huge debts.

Macclesfield have recorded three promotions in the four subsequent seasons & are now in the National League North, currently in 14th place.

I watched the game it was certainly no fluke result they thoroughly deserved their win, absolutely brilliant. I’m so pleased for the fans, who says the FA Cup has lost its magic.
