As the title says, it seems Eric was either a love him or loathe him (jealous more like) footballer. Such talent, but occasionally flawed, well aren't they all... Best, Gasgoine, add Cantona! The following is an article into the incident at Selhurst Park, Yes that one! For those who don't know what we are on about, Eric did a flying Kung Fu kick over the railings at an abusive spectator and all hell broke loose.

I remember the transfer out of Leeds to, and I had heard rumours out of Yorkshire, that was ALLEGEDLY down to some dalliance with Lesley Ash, wife of fellow strike partner Lee Chapman. It all happened very quickly and you have to say, doing business with Manchester United wasn't really the done thing. So something must have happened......

Now he is an actor, starring in French films of a certain type, and talks against Islamophobia http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2923849/How-Manchester-United-legend-Eric-Cantona-turned-football-preach-Islamophobia-star-soft-porn-films.html

But for me, a Great footballer very talented, charismatic, an enigma, but what the hell was he on about with Seagulls and trawlers??

Your thoughts on.... The man, the footballer, the incident, trawlers?

I'll keep my love for Man United quiet on this forum, oops done it again...

King Eric was/is an absolute legend and someone I idolise. I put it down to his swagger, self assured arrogance and general demeanour. Characters are what football is about and what you pay money to see. Not enough of them about now, Zlatan being one of the few out there now. Opposition fans look on them as the bad guys whilst home fans worship there cult hero status.

Loved Eric while at Leeds and couldn't believe when he left for the scum, hated rivals United. And the fee? Best transfer in premiership history maybe (another discussion)? He was the final cog for United and they marched on from there.

Absolutely legend, scored some exquisite goals and will be remembered fondly forever.

Regards Allen. You Pies!

I didn't like him, I think he was vastly overrated.

Let's face it he did jack all for France! The difference is he was lucky with United, the players they had at the time was way better than the majority in the Premiership and the skill, creativity and confidence allowed him to become what he did. Don't get me wrong, he was a good finisher but take him out of the United side and throw him into say Chelsea's at the time - we wouldn't be discussing the same thing.

I'll give credit to any footballer with true potential to be named a 'great' but he's a better actor than he was a footballer and he's not a very good actor (as his credits will tell you).

David Ginola very underrated, far better in all attributes and if he played upfront he would have eclipsed OOo Ar Cantona.
