I was listening to the radio this morning and they had a piece on about social networking and usernames. Gary Birtles was on and was saying that he is being impersonated on facebook and twitter by someone using his name.

This made me think about my username on here and on twitter, I hope the real Tony Hateley doesn't get upset thinking I am impersonating him. I am Tony Hateley on Twitter but don't do much tweeting more reading other tweets and I would never want people to think I am the real Tony, I'm not fit to lick his boots.

I'm sure people don't think that, he probably has a few other using his name because they respect him as a player too. There are alot of fake people on facebook and twitter, some are only doing it to bother the real people and like i said before some are like you.

I don't think the real Tony would bother about people using their name if they are not doing harmfully.

I hope Notts Joe doesn't mind me doing it either, though I think there's a different between someone doing a parody, pretending and just being a fool to cause trouble. I find parodies funny when in good taste, I find the others a little pathetic and think people shouldn't. I'm sure Tony Hateley would be honoured to have a fan remember him in such a way that it shows how much he meant to you as a player. This will be Gary's next subject in his upcoming book 'Opinion on a boring former player - Re-Usernames'..

Will be signing at HMV and anywhere physically possible to place a chair. :shifty:

Lol, that made me laugh thanks Joe. I take it you're not a fan of Mr Birtles.

I respect any players who have achieved or done great things for the game, however Gary makes me cringe. He gives me the impression he probably talks to himself in the mirror or any situation possible, he could probably milk a goat for money or two. He's just one of those people in my opinion who rate themselves so much the truth doesn't really reflect on real life and I find his books to be very poor.

Once had the displeasure of him assuming I was a forest fan due to a friend buying his 20th book release.

Sure he comes across worse than he his but really needs to look up the term 'sell out' and 'two European cups' he'll find people much better at it then himself. :fear:

I'm sure the real ex-football playing Mr Hateley has no problem with you using his name . It comes over very obvious that he was/is a great idol of yours. I would feel very flattered if it was me and if he ever reads your posts he should feel proud to be associated with you. :flowers:

You have another username that is someone else Joe, but if they don't know it doesnt harm them. But as i've said before, none of you have done it with bad intentions.

@tonyhateley I was bored the other day, after having extensive torture (I mean physio). I decided to wait at the local Library, while Super Ram had a short walk with Jake, as we was going to watch the youth team cup final at Walsall.

I picked a book up, I thought of you when I read the back. LOL

Tony comes on here with some great  funny posts and serious ones too. I always look forward to seeing his name on any new posts. Then again, there are so many other posters I look out for now. :cheer:

I'll ask Tony's question when I finally get to meet him, he can't stay away from Meadow Lane for ever and I'd really like to say hello to someone who brings so much life to PoN. (secretly I just want to clone him)

I'm proud of what Joe has done here but it needs the input of contributors like Tony to keep us alive. I also wish we could clone him-we'd have twice as many laughs. :) :)

It's special, I think I do get a little sentimental but it's like anything in life. If your proud of something, it shows and I honestly feel it's a privilege to be in this role. I like seeing how a 'real' community comes together, as my others are world wide and the people don't interact the same as they do here. Everyone is just as friendly, though it's exciting for the reason as I could speak to someone I sit near and never really know it. (despite I've it an habit of mine in saying hello - It's made me less shy/nervous)

Yesterday I was going to respond to Tony's response mentioning 'cloning', as It would be nice to have more like him but this will come. I can't wait to see the community take a step forward, I think some tend to take me the wrong way. (such as a poster I met and then stopped posting), I think my shyness came across as I was stuck up.

No boring posts on here, not even by Super Ram. (my mum will say we're lucky, I would say it's more than luck) haha

We're all doing well here, but we certainly could do with another Tony.
