Worthy of a share, as posted elsewhere

Hopefully you may have already seen some of the Notts County Football in the Community events that have been mentioned so far (more to come), we'd like to thank those who have signed up for the Asda 10K run and agreed to walk 15 miles to the Mansfield Town game to raise money for our community mental-health projects for adults and young people. We still have places available for both of these events.

Our next fundraiser is slightly different! A wine-tasting night in a fantastic local venue. Please find details below, we would love to have some fans attend the event, enjoy some fine wine and help support our charity.

Event: FITC Charity wine-tasting evening - Fine wines from the Loire Valley in France
Location: The Caves underneath the Malt Cross, 16 St James's St, Nottingham NG1 6FG
Date/Time: Thursday 17th March - 7pm start (approx 2 hours)
Details: A selection of wines provided by our French wine expert, canapes, raffle & entertainment
Cost: £25

For more information on any of the above or anything else Football in the Community related, please pop into the office at the ground, call 0115 955 7215 or email [email protected]

Wine isn't really my thing, I have tasted cider and whiskey before (paid to actually do it) but I'm not really a 'drinker' to be honest.. Haha!

It looks a good idea though, good luck to them.

my own preference is a Rioja Tempranillo..or for the French Chateauneuf du pape ( sometimes Aldi do a good one of this)...or one could say our defence this season has been a load of pap :D

Thank you for sharing this Piethagoram.  We have now registered on this site so hope to keep you updated on all our fundraising events for our local projects.

Currently these are all-geared to raising funding to continue our hugely successful women's, men's and children's mental health projects within inner-city Nottingham and wider Nottinghamshire.

Current events we are promoting include;

Sponsored walk to Mansfield away (15 miles) - Saturday 16th April

Wine tasting in the Malt Cross Caves - Thursday 17th March

A night with the Wembley Winners (Tommy Johnson, Kevin Bartlett, Mark Draper + Les Bradd) Poppy & Pint pub Thursday 28th April

We also have places in the Asda 10K race and Nottingham triathlon

I would be delighted to answer any questions you have about our community work or our upcoming events.  It makes a big difference if we can get fans involved and supporting our work however they can!  Thanks for reading!

Hi liampie thanks for your question we are trying to help explain to people within Notts and fans more in particular about our work.

FITC are the registered charity of Notts County FC, and have been working within the local community for 26 years now.  Originally we provided football to primary & secondary schools, (which we still do for a range of sports and classroom activities) but we have extended our work and now work in the areas of education, health, social inclusion & sports participation.  We work closely with the club, using the name, brand & profile of NCFC along with the power of sport to make a positive difference & raise aspirations to the lives of local people.  We work with many marginalised, disadvantaged & talented adults and young people every year, currently delivering over 30 projects.  Football in the Community is independent & self-funded.

We are committed to providing high quality, accessible and life-changing, development opportunities that change people’s health, confidence and skills, increase positive behaviours and bring enjoyment to the people we work with.

As a charity, we raise all our own funding and are successful at designing innovative projects that target specific groups of local people.  We work with a wide range of groups across Nottingham on a daily basis of all ages, abilities and disabilities.  Our track record of attracting funding from high-profile charitable trusts is strong but we are now trying to also seek alternative funding streams to sustain our projects.  FITC are now asking people & fans to fundraise for us, attend one of our events & help us form links with local businesses who would like to support our community work.  This will enable us to offer more sessions & a wider range of projects to provide direction & support.  We have recently launched a community partners initiative for local companies who like what we do.

Some of our current projects include; Cancer rehabilitation for men & women, men's working-age dementia, adults & children's mental-health, football for men over 55, primary school sports, futsal, weight-loss/management, National Citizen Service & many more.   http://www.nottscountyfitc.org.uk/projects/

A couple of quick FITC facts finally!  Our FITC ambassadors who support our work include; Vicky McClure & Les Bradd.  We were awarded The Nottingham Post's 'Community Award' in 2015.  FITC's activity manager is former Magpie Ian Richardson.  We own Portland leisure centre in The Meadows and use this as our hub.

I hope this helps!  Hopefully you may have learned so new information about our work (please help us spread the word & tell other fans about FITC) If you think you know someone we can help, can offer us your support or want to find our more about projects, events or anything else, please let me know or visit our website!  Notts fans can very proud of FITC's work which is well-regarded nationally!
